As I understand it, there is a genuine 3 way rivalry between Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in Istanbul.

Is that the case? If so, that must be unique. Most rivalries I've known of involve two clubs even if sometimes the ill-feeling is more dominant in one direction.

Even nationalism involved Scotch/Irish Independance v Scotch/British and the union.

And a hell of a HISTORY lesson - "compare and contrast the opposing views" !
The football clubs today manifest the deep-seated hatred that existed way before Association Football was even thought of.
The roots of this derby go back TEN times as long as our Palace skirmish has existed. In those days it wasn't popular, extrovert managers winding each other up, but Kings of England fighting each other.
PS It used to be one for art-lovers also, as some of the banners were visual masterpieces.

Probably United - City. Always makes for an interesting atmosphere on public transport in and around Manchester. Hundreds of smelly drunk sweaty men calling literally anything and everything a 4 letter expletive beginning with C. Add that with people travelling to see them from all over the world, not knowing where they're going, excited, screaming kids, and cheeky, teenage wannabe Danny Dyers.

Football brings 'em in don't it?
