At times like these we need to turn to the great songsmith Craig David.

Did he start courting on Sunday or Monday? Monday, naturally...

Monday
Took her for a drink on Tuesday
We were making love by Wednesday
And on Thursday and Friday and Saturday
We chilled on Sunday
I met this girl on Monday
Took her for a drink on Tuesday
We were making love by Wednesday
And on Thursday and Friday and Saturday
We chilled on Sunday

The railway week runs Sunday to Saturday, as I work on the railway the calendars on my computers/phone run Sunday to Saturday otherwise it is confusing trying to book leave/plan days out.

though the timetables are Monday-Firday then Saturday/Sunday service. are you sure the computer and phone arent just following (US) software norms?

the weekend being Saturday and Sunday settles it for me.

Well, yes, timetables are different for different days of the week to meet the demand of those using the service. It's why commuter trains are now starting to be shorter on a Monday and Friday than Tuesday to Thursday. Not entirely sure what point you're trying to make?

Considering I have to set both to start on Sunday, yes, I'm pretty sure it's not following a norm.

Alright I am even more confused now 😂😂

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_week_date that was 1988

Now a typical calendar from the 70's shows Sunday as the first day

It has to be Mondat, right? When you ask anyone to recite the days of the week, what goon would start with "Sunday"?

Thanks for the replies. Course Monday is the start of the week...I just need to explain to a colleague that when he says 'next Sunday' he's actually referring to this Sunday coming i.e. the Sunday of 'this' week.

I'd just ask a Conservative politician. Whatever they tell you is likely to be wrong, so you could just assume it's the other one.

Monday. If for no other reason than saying 'weekend' is so much more convenient than saying "What are you doing next weekend day and weekstart day?

Monday, or Mondat as some call it, is clearly the start of the week.
