Weren't the old Dagenham club saved by merging with the more successful Redbridge to become Dagenham and Redbridge?

Couldn't the failing West Ham merge with their better run neighbours to become Leyton and Ham United,a club certain to exceed Arsenal in its supporter base?

Its virtually certain that West Ham will get it, as its in Stratford and not Spurs territory.

To clinch it West Ham will retain the running track which their Athletic partners, obviously, must have. The two parties will share the ground i.e. The Athletics guys and WHU.

Spurs said they would dig up the track and Seb Coe and Co. want there to be a legacy after the games so they have shot themselves in the foot!

Roma have a running track and they still create a cracking atmosphere. The stadiums going to have a lid so there definately still will have atmosphere there.

West Ham have shit loads of fans they don't need to merge with anyone especially not that HUGE club that is Leyton Orient lol. We normally have a crowd of 33 thousand and the Capacity at Upton Park is 35,303. We used to have bigger support than Arsenal who were like Chelsea who had f*** all support many moons ago, but have both gained huge numbers because of their success. If you win things all the young kids start supporting the club. The main reason we don't fill the stadium each week is the ticket prices which are a joke! For a club that has players like Spector and Gabbidon they still think they can charge 40 pound for an ok seat. I really don't believe the spiel about lower ticket prices It might happen the first season then it will go up that's capitalism. It's never good to sell your stadium unless you have a new stadium that the club owns. I hope we don't move but if the two David's want to move there is f*** all the fans can do about it.

Surely it's got to be 'West Orient'?

Can't happen mate, planning rules won't allow it due to the size (blocking out light to the residents behind), having to change/block the road behind and another 8,000 people in an already over crowded area.

Gold and Sullivan aren't stupid and no supporter wants to leave the Boleyn...it's our home. but they rekon that with the sale of the Boleyn and the increased capacity, they will be able to reduce ticket prices substantially. Transport and parking links will alsi be much better.

Once WHU are in there, give it a few years and many people think that G&S will offer to build a 20k seater stadium next door....complete with running track., probably with a fair whack of the cash that they sell the Boleyn with.

If ticket prices are reduces to say £25, it can't be a bad thing and i'm sure that most people, who have been priced out of the game for many years, will return again.

on the radio the other day either Gold or Sullivan was on there saying that they would give upton park to the council for nothing

Terrible news for Orient with cut price Premiership football on their doorstep. Seriously, how can they hope to compete?

What price Hearn decides to do something daft like move his own club to Upton Park once West Ham have moved out?

It's too big for West Ham, and while still in East London far enough away to make it too big a move from home.

A large proportion of West Hams supporter base has moved out further into Essex. Stratford with it's rail links would be an ideal location for them.

I would suggest that West Ham need to get this stadium or face up to life without Gold and Sullivan.

Sod all their talk of being "West Ham fans" they are businessmen, and when Birmingham missed out on getting the "Super Casino" the pair of them suddenly wanted to sell the club. I expect the same reaction if they miss out on the Olympic Stadium. That's what the 2 of them have come to West Ham for, to sell the Bolelyn Ground and get a bargain new Stadium in Stratford instead.

Stockport were supposed to have moved into Maine Road when City moved to the City of Manchester stadium. Having a running track is not the reason why Withdean has no atmosphere, it's a combination of having no roof with a bit of many seasons of very average football. Plenty of stadiums throughout the World have running tracks round them and it's no big deal.

Yes. Pretty much sold out every PL game since returning to the top flight in 2005.

Filling the Olympic Stadium however, will be a challenge. If West Ham are looking for ground improvements, marry up all the stands in the ground - redevelop the 'Chicken Run'/East Stand (the older stand) - 40,000+ capacity.

Simples.

can't do that because of the school behind the east stand...they would never have any sun!

My wife's family are all hammers and they are all excited about it. I don't think it would have any more affect on Orient than they have already.

I think it's funny that West Ham are still fannying around 5 years after the announcement.

I also feel sorry for Orient because they'll get squeezed whoever occupies the Stratford stadium.

The seaside.
Actually the NFL keep talking about a London Franchise so maybe they should think about the Olympic stadium. The problem with with American football is that it tears up the turf.

If the athletics bods would agree to only use it in the spring and summer, that wouldn't be an issue.

I can't see the viability of a dedicated American football stadium in London. Bearing in mind, there are EIGHT HOME GAMES in an entire gridiron season (Sept-Dec) there wouldn't be the gate receipts from 40k to make it viable either, that's why American football teams have to have those huge 100-150k stadia they share with other sports.
