It’s remarkable, isn’t it that a man who inhabits such murky waters is surprised when someone else does the dirty on him.
Do they really think they are that untouchable that they can’t be exposed?
And that when exposed, they’ll get away with it?

This is the most out-of-touch group of people I have ever come across. Pure delusion.
And that I think is at the core of why this government has lost the support of the country despite only relatively recently winning a landslide GE victory. It is not simply because of how they handled Covid, the state of the economy, Brexit, or policy on the nhs or strikes - people have diverse views on all of these of course and not all (rightly or wrongly) necessarily disagree with the government approach.

It is because (almost) everyone has now got the sense that the Tories as a whole, not just Johnson and his cabal, have lost any connection to reality and simply believe they are above the laws of the land whilst having zero respect for the people they are supposed to represent. This transcends ordinary people's party political loyalties and policy beliefs. Thankfully the majority of the electorate can still recognise when democracy is being undermined, and will react to save it.

Gods country fortnightly
That seems to be his only option at the moment. But he couched his view on the issue with suitable vagueness, leaving the door open for a return if the right moment arises.
Interesting bit on the News Agents podcast today talking about this.....

Still some choppy waters ahead but we are starting to see the neo-liberal take over of the previously conservative Conservative party start to unravel.

The infighting and opportunism is well under way.

Sunak had a stormer with the Northern Ireland deal, but it's already off the front pages.

What's going to be interesting is how they react in opposition and whether they return to being the party they were very successful at being.

I really think that we have had enough of Johnson. He's an ex Prime Minister and should just do the decent thing and f*** off to obscurity.
...but of course it is his lack of decency, personally and professionally, that has earned him the reputation for being one of the worst British Prime Ministers in history. He is an absolute disgrace.

I am starting to believe that the Conservative Party won’t recover from the present shit show for a generation or more.

All their lies are starting to unravel, and they are turning on each other with a viciousness rarely witnessed in British political history.

It does my old heart good, I hope I live long enough to see their complete annihilation.

I'm ashamed of myself for ridiculing the catastrophically thick Matt Hancock.

he's done a lot of great work for charity.

he gave £10k of his £320k (not even the £20K loose change) from his appearance on ' Look At Me I'm A ****' to dyslexia charities.

he doesn't like to speak about it

Boris doesn't like it.

And it will be Boris, not Johnson

It would be very interesting to see who/what would then fill the vacuum. Conservative mark 2 or the rise of the Liberals?

Not a good idea.
Every Government, and indeed democracy, needs a strong Opposition to not only keep them in check, but also to offer the populace an alternative.

I know they do this drip feed nonsense to sell papers, but just like Partygate it’s very frustrating not to have the full picture when the media has it. They are choosing to release in dribs and drabs and I just want the full picture.

Just read some of the damning interim report from the Privileges Commitee, it's online if you fancy trawling through, gets spicy from section 28. A sample...

28. On 1 December 2021, Mr Johnson told the House: “All guidance was followed completely in No. 10" . We will consider why Mr Johnson told the House that no guidance had been broken in No. 10 when he knew what the guidance was and was in attendance at gatherings where the guidance was breached; and why he failed to tell the House about the gatherings at which he had been present

30 On 8 December 2021, Mr Johnson told the House “I have been repeatedly assured since these allegations emerged that there was no party and that no Covid rules were broken”;45 and that “I have been repeatedly assured that the rules were not broken”.46 We will examine the basis of his assertion that he had received “repeated assurances” that all rules had been complied with to discover why he sought to rely on purported assurances from others when he was there at gatherings in question. We will consider why he said he had been given repeated assurances when the evidence is that the assertion that all rules were followed was taken primarily from a line-to-take developed by the Director of Communications at No. 10, a special adviser appointed by Mr Johnson, as a response to a media enquiry about specific gatherings rather than having been a general assurance as to the fact that no guidance or rules were broken in No. 10.

What do they mean - he was present at gatherings where the rules and guidance were breached? The Liar says he wasn't !

Responding to the report, Johnson claimed that it “vindicated” him. “It is clear from this report that I have not committed any contempt of parliament,” he said.
“That is because there is no evidence in the report that I knowingly or recklessly misled parliament, or that I failed to update parliament in a timely manner.
Nor is there any evidence in the report that I was aware that any events taking place in No 10 or the Cabinet Office were in breach of the rules or the guidance.
“Like any prime minister I relied upon advice from officials. There is no evidence that I was at any stage advised by anyone, whether a civil servant or a political adviser, that an event would be against the rules or the guidance before it went ahead. There is no evidence that I was later advised that any such event was contrary to requirements.
“So, when I told the house that the rules and the guidance had been followed, that was my honest belief.”

That's the problem with a compulsive liar - they just can't stop.
