We all know the rules now, they're quoted exhaustively by clubs and authorities so if some dimbot chooses to ignore them and run onto the pitch, then I have zero sympathy for the consequences they reap. Yes a lot of the time its harmless, but nobody knows at the time what is in the heads of these fans who storm onto the pitch. Or - crucially - what is in their pockets. Nobody deserves to be exposed to that in their place of work.

What if this thinking was applied to everything in society. Working in a big train station, you could encounter tens of thousands of people a day and they all may or may not be maniacs carrying sawn-off shotguns and ballistic missiles.

Thats a nonsense point to make, it holds water like a colander. People on train platforms have every right to be there. They are paying customers there for one purpose - to use a train to get from A to B.

The only people on a football pitch should be footballers and officials. There is absolutely no reason anyone from the crowd should enter the field of play, any more than they should jump up on the stage at a theatre during or after a performance.

Unless you are Wolves and winning 1-0. In which case their physios will also be on the pitch every two and half minutes

So if someone runs into the staffroom and starts making aggressive gestures, it's not something that the station staff should worry about?

It's the absolute minimum he deserves. He should get his head down, think about his priorities in life and then see where he is in three years time. There is no excuse for running on the pitch and it needs to be stamped out for everyone's benefit. Maybe he'll take up playing Saturday league football instead and gain some respect for the pitch.

Probably could - he was a decent junior footballer…played in the same team as may lad for years. His dad is a lifelong fan/STH too.

Certainly adds to it and it's a lot better than applauding the away attendance.

But can sometimes lead to misfortune, requiring several chaps having to email Martin Perry on behalf of the atmos generator . . . . . . .???

Some of the reasoning on here is hilarious.

A most entertaining thread. But a foolish young man, hopefully will learn from.

What are you wittering on about ? It’s not middle class to dislike drunks.

One of the best atmospheres I ever experienced with BHA was the Nathan Jones game at Fulham, I was there with Bayern fans……they were blown away with the support we gave that night.

That game was perfect, a London evening game at Christmas………most of us were absolutely bolloxed.

We won……..it was mental.

You would have hated it.
