agreed,I picked up the trowel when I was 22,quite a late starter,I was a decent hoddie and it was hard being out of my comfort zone
but so glad I did,it takes years to become an accomplished bricklayer,it's also a tough living,but very satisfying

Well being someone who is passionately anti-austerity, I think it's important that people protest non-violently against this government and completely support them in doing so. Might even pop along myself on June 20th.

Lets hope yor actions are as load as your words. Its important people make their feelings heard, its what democracy is all about. Just dont step over the line for your own sake as i suspect it will be heated

My grandfather was a master mason, senior bod in his union local when he retired.
My dad -- now in his 80's -- still has his Da's tools, and until about ten years ago used them around his, and all of our properties.
He taught all us in turn, but i'm a complete butcher.

I can do a little cleaning-and-repointing, however, as needed.
What I know, I taught my son, who is a practicing architect.
I bet he orders brick whenever the client so much as suggests it.

Coming from a man who thinks cancer charity work is all just PC nonsense, it's hardly surprising you're so HUGELY patronising of others and their opinions when they differ to your own.
Nothing could make me want to support the protests more than this kind of arrogant sneering, so thanks, I'll be looking in to them a little.

austerity is all well and good if it applies across all sections of society. You can bet your bottom dollar that the super rich are not having to tighten their belts. As an example of this sales of Superyachts have been rising steadily year on year not affected in the slightest by the GFC, recession or austerity.

Good example. Taxing footballers is a great start. Now all they need to do is successfully tax their cronies in big business and there is non need for austerity measures. Trouble is they only really like taxing working and middle class people.
