I think this will start. Keeps KLL back for the second half. Sadly not a lot of options on the bench KLL, Towell, Manepaa, Crofts, Tillley, Manu, anyone else.

The only other way would be to play narrow and play three upfront. I feel for CH so few options.

Calderon or Rea

Why are people suggesting Lua Lua must play? What has he done when he has come on to suggest that he is the answer to our problems surely Murphy and Skalak wide? We must keep it tight as the first goal is very important.

He is the only one capable on a good day. He does not have time coming on as substitute. None of the forwards do. Skalak has to play for crosses and corners (to who?).

If Lualua would run into space, he would be a first choice regular. As he is two footed he should play more centrally. Wasted on the wing.

Baldock is better wide. Can't even see him in the middle let alone win the ball in the air.

But we have to push forward Lualua forward more with less defensive duties whilst we are chasing the game.

Wednesday defenders are big and strong we need to be quick and play through them or around them not try going over them.
But we won everything in the air early on, Hemeds 2 headers being an example, just dont have the personnel to take advantage now, maybe up in the air at set pieces for Greer and Dunk and low through balls for the quick forwards?

That loooks fine but I would replace Manu with BZ in case it goes to penalties. Even carrying an injury BZ and Hemed could take a penalty if substituted on 119 minutes.

Approaching a match having to score at least 2 goals is not easy. Changing formation at the same time is surely even harder.

Our first 11 (available) look similar to the first half of the season where we didn't loose a match but also didn't win by more than 1 goal.

It's going to be a difficult night but lets do all we can to help the team:albion2:

I'd be happy not to see Wilson anywhere near our team sheet. I thought he looked like a player who felt it was either:

a. Beneath him
b. Lazy
c. Disinterested

Maybe I'm mistaken, as I've spoken to others who think the complete opposite, but hey, that's football

I disagree totally Lua Lua has one position that he can play and that is wide left or possibly wide right for minutes during the game. Any other position is a complete waste of what talent he does have and should NEVER be comsidered for CM as he loses the ball too easily and would be forever playing us into trouble.

Chris Hughton, being as he is, I think will be focussing on what we can control. The partnerships and tested methods which have got us where we are.

The defence is one of those things. They are capable of holding Wednesday. They might not. But we know they CAN.

The midfield pairing isn't something we can rely on. It's untested. If we lose that battle we can't really complain. Let's hope Kayal and whoever is along side him have a solid game - I don't think we can ask much more. We know Kayal has greatness in his locker. But he seems to have left it there for the last two games. Maybe tonight he'll return to form.

The partnerships between the LB/RB and LW/RW are going to be key too. i don't think we'll get much joy down the middle but Bong and Lua Lua have looked good together when they've played (Ipswich for example).. Bruno and Skalak/Murphy isn't so encouraging. That said...

Skalak is the one player on this pitch who I think could shine tonight. He is the one who gives me hope. I'm tempted to say he's the best dead ball specialist we've had at this club. Certainly since Vicente. But maybe since Watto, Currie and Carpenter? His corner accuracy since he's been here is frightening. He is reliable. We can trust him to do his job when the ball is at his feet and we need to take advantage of that.

What we can't then rely on is a striker to get his head on the laser guided crosses that Skalak will deliver if he's on the pitch. We need Baldock and Wilson to have the game of their lives. I have no faith at all that Wilson will do this. I've seen multiple excuses for the way he plays but IMO I've seen enough. He is not putting in 100%. He looks like a player who is on loan from Man United. Baldock needs to do his usual. Make life uncomfortable for the defenders. Chase everything... And not get injured. The liklihood of these two defying the odds and scoring 3 between them is low IMO. Maybe chuck Murphy up front for Wilson when he inevitably tires?

Dunky could well decide this game for me. Along side GG they haven't exactly got a bad record playing together! If he plays well and gets himself into the box for the set pieces, he could be the difference. Tonight more than ever he'll know that he's one of the few aerial threats we'll have in the box so I think he'll be trying harder than ever to get on the end of a Jiri Skalak wonder cross.

I have faith that we can hold Wednesday. I have less faith that we can score 2, make it through extra time with a depleted team and come out winning a shootout. I think we'll give it a damn good go and do ourselves proud in the process. But ultimately, I think we'll fall short. 1-1 on the night for me with us throwing the kitchen sink at them until the end and getting caught on the break.

I cannot believe as many are suggesting that we will start with Skalak, Murphy and Lua Lua 2 out of the 3 but not all of them.

Really not an odd suggestion at all.

We'll play two wingers, and SOMEBODY has to play up front, with Baldock OR Wilson (we know they are pointless together). Murphy or Skalak are the most likely candidates.

I'd suggest if the three do all play, it should be Murphy and Lualua as the wide players, drawing the fouls, for Jiri to produce some dead ball magic.
