I stand corrected. I can remember singing it for the first time when we played Palace at home, but I couldn't remember when!

It was 10 minutes before the kick-off. We had infiltrated the away pen. You were with Big Maurice from Telscombe and the Budgen boys. I joined up with a mob including Vic the Mick, Turkish Santiago and the 'lads from the Aldrington underpass.

We exchanged knowing winks waiting for the signal from Alfie Perkins and his sister Mabel.

Carnage.....

also on the seagull special after NYE; i remember someone asking whether we go back and start again at 4 nil down and play for 20 minutes! numbskull! also their midfield knew the conditions and scooped the ball up and ran straight through our defence whereas we tried to pass it in the middle and the ball just got stuck in the mud

I was in the away end at the start of the game, a bit of trouble started and we were escorted to the away end. After the game about 10 of us got chased around the streets around the train station. shit myself, I was only 16.

I remember there being some Bristol City lads in their end before the game (there game had been postponed I think) and they came round and joined the Brighton lot. First time I heard ''Drink up thee cider''

I seem to remember being on the side of the pitch, rather than behind the goal, could be wrong - it was more than 30 years ago!

I have bumped into Mullery 2 or 3 times in the past year - next time I will ask him if the fish and chips story is fact or fiction!

Reading this thread I really wonder if some of the contributors actually attended. I went to both games, and am pretty sure we were in the side stand (the terrace under the double-decker stand). Don't remember any snow, but vividly remember singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again on the walk back to the station.
We arrived early at the ground for the replay and tried to get in the Town End, but the police/stewards sussed us out straight away!

You are right about us being in the side. Us and a load of Bristol (can't remember if City or Rovers) fans going on about Cider. Great atmosphere, and I am sure it started to snow for a short while, then went back to rain. After the match we were stuck there, as we had gone into town, and the coaches were made to leave early.

The away end was behind the goal, and like I said we were escorted to the away end, and I can asure you I was there, got no need to lie. Had to wait for the train at the station as game finished 20 mins from the end.

I was at that game. I'm sure it was in the late 70's and we were 3 or 4 goals down with no chance of getting a result. Then...miracle of miracles the ref abandoned the game. I remember laughing all the way home.

Can anyone remember the date and other details?

Yes, I was there too. We were losing 4-0 and the rain was really coming down. The locals went ape. understandably, but the pitch really was bad. I think we lost 2-1 when replayed near the end of the season.
Happy days!
