Scouse criminal links, allegedly?

Sent from between Susannah Reid's thighs via Tapadream.

Fair play but didn't think this was ever proven?

Looking forward to seeing him play (if he plays!), regardless of whether he is fit or not. For me he is a real ambassador of the game.

Despite all this, obviously want us to win... but a 4-3 win with Gerrard having a stormer is fine by me.

For what it's worth, I really don't think Gerrard will play much of a part against us, if any.
He's not fit enough to play Spurs this weekend, so I can't see him being included in the Liverpool team next week.

Do explain what your definition of a DECENT English player is then?

Obviously a player who has won:

FA Cup: 2000–01, 2005–06
League Cup: 2000–01, 2002–03;
FA Community Shield: 2001, 2006;
UEFA Champions League: 2004–05;
UEFA Cup: 2000–01
UEFA Super Cup: 2001, 2005

In a team in which, more often than not, he was far and away the best player is only HALF decent.

Just in case you need any more convincing that he was in fact THE best English midfielder of his generation, and probably for a while before him, he won a few individual awards to:

FWA Footballer of the Year: 2009
PFA Players' Player of the Year: 2006
PFA Young Player of the Year: 2001
PFA Fans' Player of the Year: 2001, 2009
PFA Team of the Year: 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009
FA Premier League Player of the Month: March 2001, March 2003, December 2004, April 2006, March 2009
Liverpool top goalscorer: 2004–05, 2005–06, 2008–09
UEFA Club Footballer of the Year: 2005
UEFA Champions League Final Man of the Match: 2005
UEFA Team of the Year: 2005, 2006, 2007
FIFA/FIFPro World XI: 2007, 2008, 2009[100]
FA Cup Final Man of the Match: 2006
Goal of the Season: 2006
England Player of the Year: 2007

I for one can't wait to see a player - who in various periods in his career - was among the top 2 players in the world, play at the AMEX.

Anyone who says he is over-rated as a player is literally MENTAL.

Bit of gerrard man love going on here ain't there ?

Pull all the stats you want up mate IMO he's over rated.

Top 2 players in the world !!!
You're the f***ing mental one if you believe that

Don't tell me .... You're gonna be sat in the away end wednsday

When I say HALF decent I mean yeah he's pretty good as ENGLISH midfielders go & yes probably has been our best for a while (although out of the 2 I'd choose lampard) but it really wouldn't be hard to find better foriegn midfielders who have done MUCH better on an international stage which is why we always bomb out.
its people like you that get everyone's hopes up every tournament telling us how our boys are "the best in the world" when clearly they are not !!

As for them player awards they are bollocks, I mean nedved ? ...... Cmon !!!

Take your England tinted specs off pal..... Or ya scouse ones (whichever it is)
Gerrards a cock

Not so much man-love as appreciation of a very good player.

I would have comfortably put Steven Gerrard in the top 2 players in the world from 2004 - 2006, maybe you don't remember how he carried Liverpool to trophies through those seasons?

IMHO the reason that Gerrard never really performed at international level is because he was always shoehorned into positions and formations to accomodate lesser players (generally Lampard) because he was more adaptable, being made to play left midfield being the best example. Whereas other international teams seem to build their teams around their best players. His achievements for club, on the otherhand, are as good as most top European players.

He was just about good enough to be allowed to clean the boots of Paul Scholes.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree as I don't think he's ever even been in the top 10, I'm not saying hes shit just that he's very over rated.
Look at the effect it had on pools play when alonso left... I really feel Liverpool could grow into a top 4 team again without gerrard & I think if he was a foreign player then us English wouldn't hold him in such high regard at all..... Like I said "a half decent midfielder"....... Not an electric world beater by any means & never has been

I'd agree with this, he's a decent Englishman, but like Lampard was shown to be woefully inadequate at each international tournament they played at.

Gerrard - bags of talent, but an absolutely shit football brain.

His 50 yard diagonal passes could be brilliant if he didn't try them 6 times a game when a 10 yard pass forward would usually be more effective.

Never made the top 3 in the FIFA World Player of the Year

1991 - Gary Lineker - 3rd
1996 - Alan Shearer - 3rd
1999 - David beckham - 3rd
2001 - David bekham - 3rd
2005 - Frank Lampard - 2nd :eek:
