No, it is horrible. Short sleeve shirts should simply not be worn with ties. If you are going to wear a short sleeve shirt, go with a open neck. In my opinion, like.

I would always favour the fitted short sleeve shirt with top button done up MOD style but with NO tie.

Only CHAVS leave buttons undone on shirts or polos.

That's exactly what I thought of too when I read the title.

I wear short sleeve shirts, must be white, to weddings funerals etc with a tie and then when everything becomes relaxed take off both my jacket and tie thus leaving a short sleeve shirt with a less formal look.

More to the point is the awful habit of having the top button undone on a shirt with a tie or a shirt with a collar that is 2 or 3 sizes too big and just hangs around the neck very loosely.

I am going to buck the trend here. I like the combination. At the moment in fact I am wearing a nice pink shirt rolled up past the elbow (due to a scab on my elbow thanks to a bike incident) with a pink and navy tie. Very tasteful.

When you work in a 25 degree office (in winter with radiators turned off) and the dress code is shirt and tie then there isn't much option unless you want to roast!

I often wear a long sleeved shirt with a tie, but here's the twist - I ROLL the sleeves up.
This exposes my tanned forearms. I find this perfectly acceptable.
