You might well be right for your first point, and sadly I think you are spot on with your second. It feels a bit like the time before the Members Revolt ushered in the Adams Era. Can history repeat itself?

Interesting to hear Andrew talking about bringing new players in. I suspect that one may be another Adams - a batsman at another club who's been an England player (or near to selection) but is going nowhere and could be tempted by captaincy. I note that we haven't named Brown's successor yet - if it's going to be Haines, they'd surely have said.

There have been some rumblings recently that senior players are not impressed with the direction of the club (basically thrown in the towel in red ball cricket) and also unhappy with the treatment of senior players.

Jordan i'm not too bothered about as he's a bit older and we have a sold crop of bowlers but Salt leaving is gutting.

I’d love to see Joe clarke at Sussex.
Northeast wouldn’t be a bad option but not as a marquee signing.
Same with nick gubbins.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Steven Finn came to Sussex.

I'm not impressed either with the lack of interest in red ball cricket (although it wasn't the management's fault that Salt broke his arm or that Head turned out to be a bit of a dud - he was a test player and had had a good season in the Shield). I'm certainly not sure what the Brown sacking was about nor why Bopara (who was signed to play all forms of cricket) has opted out of FC stuff.

Interestingly, I'm of the opposite opinion to you. I think the batters are fine: Haines made runs, Brown (if he stays) makes runs and we've seen good signs from Orr, Carter and Ibrahim. They'll almost certainly sign another batter and let's hope Head has a better season. The bowling looks lost when Jof and Robbo aren't playing. Atkins and Carson look promising but we another strike bowler.

Hmmm ... he's got a bit of history. That would be a challenge for Salisbury

For red ball cricket, I agree. For T20, Salt is irreplaceable and our T20 batting lineup was fragile enough already. Rawlins needs to make a big step up next year.

Hudson-Prentice should be pretty handy in all formats.

Just been reading up on this and Prior’s comments. Can’t believe it. WTF is going on at our club?! There is clearly something very rotten there.

For a club legend like Matt, still closely associated with the club and players, to come out with such strong statements, surely this can’t just be brushed under the carpet now?

Is the problem they have with Andrew or Salisbury & Kirtley? Andrew wouldn’t have much to do with the players would he? Whereas Jordan’s alleged issue wasn’t monetary

But surely Andrew has a lot of influence in the direction of the club. Which in the last few years has been awful

I take a passing interest in Sussex CCC and don't understand why they can't get the people who play 20/20 to play everything else, why they seem to be deliberately trying to play the youth team, and why the best players produced by the club want to leave given that we have won so much in the last 20 years...

TBF, Salt is the only county-produced player who has left despite Sussex's wish for him to stay. We've lost Wells, Nash, Rayner and Smith in the last dozen years but we didn't want them (I still think Nash was a mistake). All the other players who have left have been aquired from other counties.

What is gutting is when players who have had their careers revitalised by coming here, then up sticks and leave us (Topley, Evans and now Jordan).

I agree about the teams: we have too many one-day specialists. I can understand Mills as he's not fit enough for 4-day cricket but more people should be playing all four formats.

Something seems to be seriously rotten in the club at the moment for this sort of thing to happen, yes he was stripped of the captaincy but something's off

We are sad to announce that we have agreed to ben_Brown26's request to be released from his contract with the club.

Everyone at Sussex Cricket would like to thank Ben for his significant contribution over the years and wishes him the best for the future. #GOSBTS

I’m staggered. This hurts more than any. And to them!!! Can’t believe what is happening at Sussex.

With the Sussex fiasco, England’s performance, the 100 and the ongoing race issues, my cricket mojo has never been lower.

Goodbye Ben Brown ...

... and good luck for the future.

Not sure how Sussex have managed to cock this one up: a good Sussex lad on his way. Bet Matt Prior is doing his nut.

Garton batting at no 3 next year?:rant:

Do you live in Sussex?
Do you own a cricket bat?

If so, Sussex CCC could have an exciting opportunity for you next summer...
