Sounds like we are playing quite well?

and compare that with how we were playing last season at this time, and if we can be there or therabouts at the new year we can bring in other players to push on to the promised land

Playing quite well but given away 3 or 4 free kicks around the edge of our area. We don't seem to have anyone showing for the killer pass even if we can deliver it from the congested midfield. Still we're now kicking towards the Albion supporters and we have Bobby Z on the bench.

Chalkboard is interesting. No errors from either side. Only one dispossession. Albion have the edge but need to watch our habit of conceding free kicks (2) in dangerous positions. Reading win balls in the air much more often.

I wonder if both sides will press more in the second half? Reading have had more shots but too far out. Ours get blocked in and around the penalty area.

Every reason to be hopeful then

If you have the time, add up the points we were ahead of the next five sides in that time (5 points, 5, 6,6 and 7 respectively - totaling 29 points, an average of 5.9 points ahead. Before start of play today that total was 23, an average of 4.6 points ahead). They have been closing up (and bunching) - and have closed the gap by an average of 1.5 points.

Not sure if that means anything other than we're closer to the pack, and they're all damn close. Those draws have hurt us.

Agreed - merely saying that the pack are closing up.

But how much of this is down to them having a bit of a 'purple patch'?

A few weeks ago we were worrying about Ipswitch, Hull and Middlesbrough. Then Birmingham and Reading were catching. Now it's Derby, Burnley and Hull again.

The point is, we've "gone off the boil" a bit, but we haven't lost and, prior to day, had a 4 point gap. The other teams seem to be slipping up after their little surge, but we seem to be steady. Yes, it could all go tit's up, but to have a 4 point lead even after the dip we've had is bloody good news IMO.
