Pop Up Adverts

Don't know what those shouty advertisers think it is they'll achieve with their over-large pop-ups, beyond making most of us reach for AdBlocker. For sure we'll all know their shouty advertiser names, but as a point of principle, I'd imagine most of us would look to buy any product other than theirs. Does anybody ever actually watch, say, a Go Compare advert beyond the first instant that the Welsh opera git appears on screen. Mute and look away now!

Just had a full page Audi ad that has sprung up twice on NSC. Is this supposed to happen Bozza?

No, sorry. I'm a bit of an impasse with it at the moment. I need to get it myself so I can see where it's coming from.

Had that, and Subaru and Some old fella being pulled along in an armchair. Every time it happens the site is really slow afterwards.

Very annoying.

Sorry.

Sorry.

Don't apologise. Is there anything we can do to help when it happens? 'View Source' or some such?

Yes please - the code for each ad unit on screen at the time would help.

To explain, each ad unit can come from a few different places and it can vary page by page, user by user.

I believe I know who it is coming from, but they claim it's not. I've not been able to prove it yet as I've not had the ad since before the weekend.

How would we get this Bozza? Complete novice over here but keen to help if I can!

Full page audi ad popping up every 2 minutes
I can post the entire file but its pages and pages long, I think the bit you are looking for is www.w3.org?

If you want the full file I can PM it to you?

Source file says <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en" id="vbulletin_html">

Next time I see it, I'll inspect and get the details over to you.

In the meantime, thought you'd be interested to know (in terms of putting the culprit over some hot coals) that when I had one of these ads on my mobile over the weekend, I was forced to close out my browser session and restart from scratch. The ad couldn't be closed as every time I tried it triggered off the ad instead. Very dodgy stuff IMO.

Bozza - just had the Audi overlay. Sent you the source files for the overlay, top and bottom ads. Enjoy.
