The referee was poor throughout the game. He allowed himself to be influenced by players on both sides, missed some blatant of fences but failed to spot others. His assistants were equally poor. Once upon a time a good referee would take up a position near the main attacker/central defender so that he could spot climbing, backing in and pushing. Today's inept clown was apparently too unfit to do that. However, Greer was his own worst enemy. Both of his cards, whilst the second was a bit petty, were justified. He knew what he'd done and couldn't get out of the way quickly enough. For those who say it wasn't, just ask what your reaction would have been if it had been a Reading player. As captain he should show more responsibility.
