Birmingham Airport on way back to Ireland - had no time yet to read thread since yesterday morning so will enjoy later. What a display yesterday! Team great, fans great and what a coach we have. Just watched his interview on Sky about what a dream it is for him to be coach of these players, for this club. I don’t think anyone can touch him at the moment - even Pep - happy, happy days. Roll on Thursday!

Only slight question mark for me would be Dahoud. He wasn’t bad by any means just not quite as good as the others. But he hasn’t played much football in the last 18 months in fairness, I’m sure he will come into his own soon
Agree he’s probably got the biggest leap up to make, but hopefully it will come the more he gets minutes on the pitch.

Stepping into a team playing like this, and a midfield that was Mac Alister and Caicedo, is a heck of an ask - but I’d say Billy Gilmour has more than shown it can be done, so here’s hoping Dahoud can grow into it too.

Anyone know any bars in Slovakia showing the game?

(I will actually be up a mountain)
As a follow up to this, in the morning we did mountain carting, basically go karting down a 5k hill track in the high Tatras in the middle of nowhere on Slovakia.

At the end we gave the karts in to a bloke who saw my Albion back pack and asked “will Brighton beat Man United today? I hope so!” I told him we would.

This is my level of confidence in our team but also the reach of not only the Premier League but also BHAFC as a brand. Truly global and people in Eastern Europe barely surprised that we’re challenging the likes of United. Wonderful, as was watching the goals just now.

Just seen the goals.

Onana is dreadful.
Is he? I don't think many people are saving that shot form Welbs, don't think anyone is saving the close range shot from Gross. Pedros maybe, but that wasn't far out either, and you couldn't read where it was going to go. Great save to stop Fati though.

Manure tw@t Mark Goldbridge on TS just had a rant about that.

He's also fuming that their goal was disallowed, saying that the technology isn't there to be 100% sure the ball is out. It's clearly out! The guy's a bellend.

Interesting to hear the comments from Gross and RDZ about Utd playing a different system which took them 15 minutes to adapt to.
Apparently it wasn't a system United had used before.

We knew RDZ is drilling the players with precise instructions for each opponent.
Seems like Ten Hag ws trying to outsmart De Zerbi.
Looks like that attention to detail covers a lot more than he thought.

Very impressive how quickly the team adapted and took over in the first half.

And once we’d done it Ten Hag couldn’t counter how we played. Difference between a good manager and a great one. I am convincing myself that RDZ may already be a better manager than Pep.

Confession: I actually quite like Mark Goldbridge. I started off thinking he’s a figure of fun but he’s grown on me. Yes he’s a bit irrational; yes he’s a Man United fan. But I love the way he wears his heart on his sleeve, and I think his verbal wordsmithery really impressive. He’s also usually quite fair towards skilled opponents. If you’ve not come across his work, check out YouTube. The Liverpool 0-7 is a highlight.
He’s more self deprecating than he gets credit for . As for the live reaction shots - then are they any different to how Neville, Carragher, Wright often react when captured on camera. Or any less delusional ? Sure he’s more sweary and binary and Partridge but he the audience lap it up.

In amidst the theatre there’s also some smarter insight. He’s acknowledged how Albion perform and why for months for example.
It’s also quite skill to host hours of entertaining broadcasting on a Saturday. He does a couple of YouTube streams and also a show on Talk Radio to millions of watchers/listeners. I like him too.

Yes he is being a bellend about it, but I do have a little sympathy with him on this point.

From the best angle we have it looks to be out.
That angle is pretty close to being directly in line so is probably correct.
However it is feasible that if the angle is slightly pitchside to the ball, then that would give a wrong impression.
To my eyes it probably would still be out, but you can't be sure with a 2D freezeframe, unless the camera angle is directly over the centre of the ball.

The technology exists to take any element of doubt from this.
Why not just extend the goal-line tech to cover the full width of the touchline?

Second goal in the corner closet to him and slow to get down - maybe I am being harsh on this? But I think a top keeper can do better.

Third goal he doesn't move his feet, dives with both hands which reduces reach, the ball is nowhere near the corner and goes through his hands

Before yesterday his supposed world class kicking has been hoof it forward and into touch

He should have done better for Rices goal, fell over for one of the Forest goals, got away with clattering a wolves player in the last minute and lobbed from the half way line in a preseason friendly 😂

His reaction time and foot work seem very poor.

They paid £45 million to downgrade from De Gea

He's a bit unhinged when it comes to United, but he is more rounded when it comes to over clubs.

He's miles ahead of melts like Rory Jennings

I think it's pointless comparing managers.
Would Pep get better results from our squad? Would RDZ improve City?
Maybe is the only answer either side could come up with.

Regardless of that, he clearly is an elite manager, with a comparable (possibly greater) obsession with the game.

Crikey. A 4+1 contract for a then 30 year old, £18m a year wages. What is it with their > £300k a week wages?

That was a knee jerk signing after the Albion won at OT in August 22. Solidified DM, but staid football was then ensured. Like Fabinho and Henderson it appears the legs are going.

Real Madrid let players leave for good reason.

There is zero planning at the club, they used to sign big players high fees, but they also used to fit into the system and club.

They also used to sign/bring through a core of younger players

What is the plan now?

It's hilarious.

A mate of mine owns a pub in north Sussex, not an Albion supporter but he’s always liked us. In the Amex era he’s always been able to obtain 1901 guest tickets from one of the major brewers.

That’s now stopped due to huge demand, other customers of the brewer literally across the UK are taking them. Apparently they’ve fallen for the Albion [not plastics of other clubs wanting to see ‘their’ club].

An Albion virtuous circle, commercially.

My dislike came from when they won a few games last season, I think one was the FAC Semi. Alex Crook was another southern Manure fan who was irritating at that time. There’s nothing worse than arrogant Manure celebs ….. James Nesbitt, Eamonn Holmes, Mick Hucknall. Alex Crook has since warmed on me, he’s fantastic on Albion transfer news, a rarity he just deals in facts and credible rumours, he seems to have grown up!

The 7-0 was a funny moment, I thought I’d exhausted the vids, Neville and Keane my highlights. I’ll check that out, thank you. The Peter Drury match highlights is a thing of beauty ….. love him.
Gary Davies is the one who I have a problem with. When United beat us a couple of seasons ago, he was going on and on about it, replaying commentary of the goals and all sorts. OK, fair enough. Every time we've beaten them no mention at all. Mmm.

As a R1 listener in the 80’s, I can’t remember him ever mentioning football at all. Strange that.

Just his inane introductions on repeat of Nik Kershaw.
