Anyone who sells their story to The Sun, with it's record of crocodile tears over many years, invokes a degree of cynicism. The McCann's and their circumstances sell papers.

Maddie is no less nore more important than any other missing child.

But surely that's down to the other sets of parents to ask? The criticism of the McCanns seems to be that they're 'organised'. They've not been happy with the odd tearful "If any one's got her please let her go!" police and/or press conference. And they've not been happy just to let the authorities quietly drop the whole thing. They've got off their arses and pulled every stunt they possibly could to keep Maddie's name in the public consciousness: books, t-shirts, appeals, newspaper stories, badgering politicians, exploiting anniversaries - hopefully they're talking to someone about doing a film.

I think subconsciously that's what a lot of people don't like. They can see (if not admit) that they wouldn't have been nearly so tenacious in the same circumstances and they don't like that self-realisation. We all say we'd do anything for our kids but very few, even those with missing children, go to the lengths that the McCanns have done. There's an element of "Jeez, give it a rest, I'd have accepted it by now" about some of the criticism.

You wonder what effect this perpetuation of "the hunt" in the mass media will have on their other 2 children. Back in 2007 those kids were young enough to be relatively protected from psychological damage through losing their sister. Four years on they're now school age and exposed to all kinds of shit re the Madelaine story.

If every parent with a missing child went to the lengths the McCanns have, then there wouldn't be any time for any other news. It's the fact the media have picked up on a middle class family with young attractive parents and flogged it for all it's worth that wears people's tolerances very thin.

It's the fact the media have picked up on a middle class family with young attractive parents and flogged it for all it's worth that wears people's tolerances very thin.

I am sure nearly everyone wishes that the parents and child are reunited. If a continued media campaign genuinely increased the chances of the child being found then the ends would justify the means. I'm not sure that the motives of the press are pure though. If you look at Richard Desmond's organs at The Express and Star, which resulted in the McCanns receiving £550,000 in damages, then it suggests that all they (the redtops) are interested in is selling more copy.

I can accept that people are bored with it. I personally turn the page or switch channels if anything about the case comes on - mind you I have from the start. But I won't criticise the McCanns for continually trying to keep the story current.

The reason she has bought out a book is too simply get more money in the pot to continue the search for their daughter. God knows where the poor little girl went too, or what has happened to her. I dread to think. There are so many sickos in this world.

It is all very sad. However, as has been said, what makes her any different from all of the others?

Maybe they should have taken more care of her instead of leaving her to go out with their friends? Just a thought like......
