I believe the policing on the bridge and in the station is provided by BTP and paid for by UK Government. Outside the ground - Council tax payers. Inside the ground - the club.

Not sure if thats the case. A policing bill is to cover the match event as a whole - that means inside and outside the stadium.

Given the likely chaos I'd have thought this was one that the club could have challenged Sky on. If Sky were so insistent on it being televised then make it a Saturday lunchtime. (edit just seen BG post above)

Also a bit miffed the club haven't acknowledged potential chaos and contingency they are putting in place so at least those having to come from more than round the corner can plan, but I do know when the Pagham SSC game is!

What could really have an effect is if commuters could somehow club together to force a negative effect on Go Ahead's share price. Perhaps a co-ordinated and viral campaign by commuter groups urging anyone affected to write to their pension or investment providers to ask if go ahead form part of their portfolio, with a suggestion that business might be taken elsewhere if they do

With the government now being guilty of a gross dereliction of duty towards the travelling public, could be that the most effective way to take on these people is by actually BECOMING their shareholders and creating merry hell for their board of directors. Buy the minimum number of shares and let them know exactly how you feel?

OK, so I agree with you he gets paid too much. I think he should get paid less than £128,000. Although I also think he should be paid more than most city workers given that he does something real and useful in society.

But i fail to see what on earth that has to do with who is at fault for the Southern Rail farce and what can be done about it? Of all the ideas I have heard for solving this 'paying Mick Cash less' is one of the less convincing. Bishops are probably a better option
