Of course, the irony will be if you get jury service sitting in judgement over someone who smacked their children while they were nibbling a Mars Bar at a firework display,
I remember my Jury service of circa 13 years ago.
There was a distinct lack of thought going on in the room. It was all rather depressing.
I particularly recall a dear old lady, (who always brought her knitting with her), continually voting not guilty, until she was the last remaining holdout.
The crime we were the jury for was assault, outside a pub. Two pool balls in a sock.
Finally a small tear rolled down her cheek as she explained...
"He can't be guilty of doing such a thing. Nobody could do something so horrible!. I really don't want to think about it any more.".
One the one hand, it was nice to see such innocence and naivette. On the other hand, some people really ought to wake up and smell the coffee.
