On the subject of Lodeiro, he's actually played in Europe before - he had a couple of seasons at Ajax from 2010-2012 and won the Eredivisie twice, although he only made 20 or so first-team appearances for them across the two seasons.

He also played for Uruguay in the 2010 World Cup, and got sent off against France.

It won't be a loan in the 'loan window' as we can only loan from English clubs, not overseas ones, in this window.

We need to wait until the full transfer window opens ( even for a loan ), in this case.

It has always felt "logical" that if we are in good contention around Christmas then it makes financial sense for TB to invest in quality that increases our % chance of getting over the line to the land of plenty.

Very simplistic, but it seems to me that this year we are good enough to go up. The threats are that we lack high quality cover for our two key midfielders and also that, despite TH and SSB being a decent pair, we might not yet have the nailed on goalscorer that promotion teams usually do.
