Chris Tavare the man most responsible for putting thousands off cricket for life. I was lucky to watch this live in 1983.

At Sydney, against New Zealand in the tri-series in 1983, he shocked the world by hitting a six off Martin Snedden during his 127-ball 83 not out.

As James Milton summed up, “When Chris Tavare hit a six, children were given the day off school, men wept, and women danced in the street, and celebratory cakes were baked in kitchens up and down the land.”
