Apparently, per capita, the UK ranks ninth in terms of migrant destinations in Europe. I'm guessing Italy must be near the top

WARNING: This video does NOT contain hardened vitriol against these poor souls.

The population of the US is 313 million
You could fit the UK in to the US 40 times

The population of Austrialia is 22 million
You could fit the UK in to Australia 32 times

The population of the UK is 64 million and will rise to over 70 million by 2027
When you look at the population of these other countries and their sizes, it just shows you how over populated we are becoming.

We need our space. The more space you have around you the better your quality of life becomes, especially in developed countries like ourself.

These kids have been packed into leaky boats and shipped off to Europe by their parents, in the hope that they will find a way to to earn money and send some home. The adults and kids accompanied by their parents are more often sent back, so the parents have started sending the kids alone, Italy will not deport minors without knowing they will be safely returned to their families. Accepting them into Europe encourages more to do the same and so the next boat load of children abandoned to the sea by their parents is in part caused by the policy of not sending them home. Effective foreign aid is the answer, not open doors.

Apparently it has just reached yet another all time high. This thread was started in 2014. Lots of people vote tory because they are 'anti-immigration'. Let me tell you. The Tories are not anti-immigration. They don't give a f***. It is just something to weaponize. If you enjoy being lied to, of course, feel free to vote conservative.

Tory’s plans are going swimmingly.

Serious question -- what will Labour do? I've heard it asked a few times but not heard an answer yet.

Come in for a term or two, make very few changes of note while the economy goes through its natural period of recovery post downturn. The economic cycle will return us towards a slump just in time for everyone to decide that the free market capitalists are probably better positioned to lead the country. Repeat, repeat, repeat zzzz ZZZ zzzz

Agree …and not destabilising the entire ME either with our searches for “WMDs” and post 9/11 “wars on terror” - in Iraq, Syria, Lybia, Afghanistan etc when we know it’s mostly about regime change and political influence which has left vacuums for radicalised extremists groups to flourish thus compounding and further creating ongoing humanitarian and refugee crises. 38,000,000 refugees or displaced people since the 9/11 wars - 4 million refugees from Syria alone. Our failure to deal with the Climate Change crisis also contributing to conflict in regions who are the least responsible for it in the first place.

If we want to ‘deal’ with migration and the refugee crises, we need to acknowledge in the West our role in creating the problems in the first place.

Yes, but you can't criticize the Tories unless you can spell out what Labour would do.

Apparently.

What utter wank.

You can't criticize Hitler unless you can explain what the Jews would do.

FFS.

That is a very odd and frankly insulting comparison.

Yep. In fact, in many ways, the more there is the better for them as they can use it to drive ever more division while further destabilising the NHS and flooding the place with cheap Labour to keep the proletariat down at heel.

If anyone who voted for Brexit thought there would be a decrease in immigration from non EU countries they clearly didn't read the small print.
As I posted on another thread yesterday

“…most people that voted UKIP or for Brexit don’t even understand that most of our immigration comes from outside the EU and is still rising under the Tories:

  1. The net migration figure to the UK for 2022 has been revised upwards to 745,000
  2. In May, figure for 2022 was given as 606,000 - a record at the time - and that was today revised up by 139,000
  3. At the same time, new figures for the 12 months until June 2023 show net migration to the UK of 672,000
  4. The figures show the number people of arriving in the UK, versus the number leaving
  5. Immigration in the 12 months to June 2023 was 1.2m - emigration was 508,000
  6. The vast majority of immigration was from non-EU countries - 968,000”
