I'll take your word for it, but surely you agree spending a large proportion of limited funds on a centre back is madness? We have the 3rd best defensive record in the league, yet lack of attacking cutting edge is making it hard to beat even the poorest of teams. CB is not a place we need to address, a winger/attacking midfielder is.

Maybe spending this on a CB will mean that we don't have to have our mf's sitting so deep and mean that they are able to get forward and look to break and get into the box or support the striker(s) in our build up play.

Against Reading, in the first half especially, we had far more bodies in the oppositions penalty area trying to get onto something than we have in several recent home games and i think the lack of attacking players getting forward quickly from MF is part of the problem as to why we arn't scoring that many. It's not necessarily the players we have but partly down to tactics imo.
