36 ahead of Watford and Huddersfield but the same points tally as Newcastle. 36 with four games to go. 33 with five games to go*. Not sure about Burnley.

I anticipate with 4 games to go

Brighton 36
Huddersfield 31
------------------------------------------
Newcastle 30
Burnley 30
Watford 27

This is meaningless bollocks, even by your standards.

Based on what, our current squad?

Probably around the mid 20 mark as it stands.

I would hope at least a couple of signings will push us up to the 'magical' 40.

Seems a very impartial & reasonable appraisal. I think even the most blinkered BHA fan would concur that we are going to find it tough this campaign. Unless we get a couple of big signings in the next two weeks (to give time to fit in with the squad), it could be a flat & disappointing start to our campaign. I was at the Goldstone game against Arsenal in 1979 for our first game in the top flight 0-4. Ouch! This time with Man City. Looking at their squad now & ours, we may do well to keep it at a similar score. Hope I am wrong & a couple of landmark signings arrive - still plenty of time, but with the footie season starting next month it's looking a bit flat right now

I sort of thought we won the real battle last season, we, ahead of Newcastle, were the first to get automatic promotion.

This season coming it will not be the final position ahead of Newcastle that matters. But want to be the first to guarantee survival. Even more important with our difficult finish. I would be overjoyed to secure enough points to stay up at home to Palace, not risking it needing a result at Burnley

Yeah, I'd be pretty happy if we secured survival in November too.
