It may be an age thing but every time someone spells something and says Haitch not H it irritates me

I think it’s been taught as Haitch in some schools for a while now?

How do you say it?

Bit of a cock up in the poll if you are 25 :lolol: go with under 25

Having taught in schools for over 30 years, it has never been policy...anywhere...to teach it as 'haitch'. If it is taught that way, it is because that is how an individual teacher says it.

I don't say it like that.

But each to their own...

I was definitely taught to say it without the "h" being pronounced... I have no ****ing clue what to vote for though as this poll is quite confusing.

So why do, what seems to me, the majority of people under around 50 say it as Haitch???

I always wonder wants happens in the school staff room.

1) Teachers sitting there in intelligent conversation over a cuppa fairtrade coffee.
2) Teachers in a parents slagfest
3) Teachers in 'I know considerably more than yow' binfest.

Or something else???

It's H of course.:lolol:

One would think correct pronunciation of the alphabet would be a pre-requisite to becoming a teacher.

Good grief Icy - you do love a poll don’t you?

I honestly expected it to be 100% H. No school would EVER teach it as Haitch! Incidentally Mouldy I don’t often see staff in staff rooms much any more - there’s no time!

One would also think that people who have learned in different parts of the country, and with varying influences, are equally respected. There are no absolutes, despite your arrogant assertion.

Wise words Icy Gull. "Haitch" is for the "could of" / "your right" / "Brexit is great" types. Otherwise known as cretins.

The word is "aitch".

The only thing to be established by this Poll is that

No one under the age of 25 gives a shit
