Gary Lineker is to step back from presenting Match of the Day until an agreement is reached on his social media use - BBC statement.
It follows an impartiality row over comments he made criticising the government's new asylum policy.
In a tweet, the presenter had compared the language used by the government to set out its plan to "that used by Germany in the 30s".

It’s possible. But I don’t support the government and I didn’t miss having pundits, and I watch MOTD every week. I’m not saying it to “edgy”. It’s my opinion on my enjoyment of the show. Not everything is some political mind game in life.
Fair enough mate.

Easy to timeshift. Start watching 15min late, skip the chat. Or watch the next morning etc.

Between the BBC, Sky, YouTube and the official site, there's a wide gamut of options.
Right, I could do that. Or I could say I enjoyed MOTD without pundits, which I did.

Pretty much, yep - well, ideally basically option b). without any need to mentionn Nazis at all (and yes, we all know he didn't use the word 'Nazi' - but equally we all know that 'Germany in the 1930s' wasn't referencing the price of fish).
This.

Why? Isn’t it just possible that people did actually enjoy MOTD without pundits?
"I really enjoyed watching Manchester Ham United kick those goals without those pesky pundits getting in the way" Seems to be the kind to sentiment shared by the vast majority who "prefer" it. One MP was particularly delighted that they "showed all the goals".

Maybe some did enjoy it, if they did, fine. It's just appears that the most vocal "enjoyers" appear to have a) no idea what football is or b) how to talk about it in a credible manner without sounding like they're trying to create a soundbite

Okay. I enjoyed MOTD without the pundits.

I don’t know why this is riling some of you up.

I enjoyed MOTD without the pundits. So there!

Ha ha. The Mail really does represent the very worst of us. Imagine having that mindset. Makes me shiver to think they walk amongst us.
It's odd who reads the Mail - in our village it seems to be elderly women, many of whom are apparently lovely people. I think they possibly have a genuine fear of "brown people"...I say that, because we have around 50 Ukranians now living in the village. Genuine refugees, fleeing war. But they have been welcomed. The problem appears to be with people who aren't white, Christian, Europeans. The Mail, and others of its ilk, feed this fear - and indeed magnify it. And politicians use the fear to create division and manufacture their own "culture wars". This country would be a much happier place if newspapers like the Mail tried to foster positive relationships. And the elderly women in our village would feel a lot happier, too.

Some I am sure do.... but I speculate (and it is speculation) that most don't. Maybe they can cater for both by offering both alternatives?

You can certainly say that, it's one of the benefits of free speech.
.. fair response. Even the tory cabal can say what they like and try to shut down free speech.... as long as we stop them actually doing it in the name of free speech!

Can always alternate between MOTD with the soundoff and then migrate to Pornhub when the punditry starts. Have to be careful though, don't want to be at the vinegar strokes whilst looking at Danny Murphy*

*Each to their own though, for someone it could be ideal

Well Sky offered a not dissimilar choice during Covid lockdown, watch the game with added crowd noise, or in silence.

Whether the Beeb are able to cater for with/without pundit intervention, l have no idea.

So after all that, your stance is "I like it with or without".

You were quoting my post about people who say they preferred it solely without pundits and commentators.

All in all, you're not the kind of people I was talking about.
