Ah shit. Waqar and Wasim. My mind has been changed. Far too difficult to pick a small amount of players.

Maybe a Sussex/England/ROW XI would be a little easier.

Too true. There needs to be be room for Waquar Younis and Lara in my ROW list also. As well as Alan Wells and Dwayne Smith for Sussex and Cork and Robin Smith for England.

This thread also makes the approximate ages of the posters on here more obvious!

Way out west
IT Botham - Legend, one of the greatest players to grace the game
Phil Tuffnell - Probably more for what he has done since finishing playing, one of the funniest people on tv/radio, some people who call themselves comedians aren't as funny
Sunil Gavaskar - See entry for IT Botham
Bishen Bedi - Inspired me to learn how to bowl a cricket ball
Derek Randall - Just loved his attitude, pure entertainer

All time?

Yeah, there's quite a few Sri Lankans their but that's just probably because i've grown up watching a lot of Sri Lanka Cricket, I find all the players there players truely inspiring. Such a tiny Island being able to compete with countries like India and Pakistan is remarkable.

They say Indian's live for cricket but in Sri Lanka it's 10 times that!

Anyone else remember Martin Speight playing for Sussex about 15-20 years ago? Was great fun to watch as he seemed to try and hit every ball for 12. Particularly remember his super fast 50 at the beginning of the '93 Natwest final, I'd say it set the tone for the rest of that match.

Fred Truman.

And of course my Godfather, Chris Balderstone.

My father played in the Yorkshire leagues with him and Huddersfield town boys football and cricket together back in the 50's

I always thought he was a brilliant cricketer, but then I was an impressionable young lad and enjoyed his do or die attitude.

Cricinfo suggests his First Class average was 31.52

Not brilliant.
