He must have been massively winded with that landing. A broken collar bone would have been no surprise but hopefully it’s been confirmed to not be anything that serious.

This from Argentina ‘s official Twitter account - doesn’t sound great . Hopefully not as bad as it sounds .

Medical report: the player Facundo Buonanotte suffered cervical spine and skull trauma during the match against Paraguay. The footballer is in good condition and is under observation while the pertinent studies are carried out.

Geez! What sort of tackle caused that? A Harry Kane special?

Because it's an U20 competition. If he's as good as people think it's hardly important in the grand scale of things.
Landed on his back. Stretchered off but he could possibly just be badly winded (fingers crossed).
Tim Vickery would disagree with you. He was saying how much of a HUGE platform it was for SA players who are keen to develop and impress. He reeled of a list of the players from the WC-winning team that played in the U20 comp.

Plus, the ONLY reason we'd not let him play was if someone at the club was a fortune-teller or mind-reader and knew that he'd get injured. It could've as easily happened during a Brighton game

Exactly.

Show me the post under this lad wearing Argentina #10 shirt saying, 'he shouldn't go, he'll get a serious injury', then fair enough.

But without that everything is just aftertiming.

I thought the fortune teller left with Potter?

very annoying that he's gone there in the first place, obviously I know that's how the club keeps good relationships with so many people in south american football and all game time's good time for a player of that age but it will be unbelievable frustrating if he comes back with any sort of issue, though he sounds okay from what's been posted already

Not really annoying at all imo……it’s the equivalent of the UEFA U21 tournament (and acts as the qualifier for the U21 WC), we wouldn’t bat an eyelid if any of our players were playing in that. We don’t see the same impact of that though because it’s in our summer, that’s all.

well yeah that's why it's annoying, it's not in the summer. I know that's just how their football calendar works and there's no reason for them to change it but I'd rather be seeing the new signing in training photos and maybe see him in the odd u23 rather than worrying if he'll make it through this u23 tournament unscathed. but that's just my personal opinion.

Yes, we know what the tournament is. What's that got to do with the sort of tackle that caused the injury (if indeed it was a killer Kane type tackle)?

It wasn't really a tackle. He got taken out mid air, rugby line out style, but not sure it was anyone's fault, just one of those things. Serious crash landing though.
