[Albion] Don’t want a striker

Just not true.

Maupay falls over in the box today
Trossard blazes over from close range at the weekend.

Neither are sharp enough in thought or movement to get into the right position and neither work hard enough to make a run in behind defenders.

That's not to let the midfield off the hook or to say we can't defend better, but our strikers aren't good enough to take our club forward

Sure - but you concede 2 or 3 goals to Newcastle , Burnley, Villa, Liverpool & Spurs then you need to score 3 or 4 just to win - as bad at both ends of the pitch

Have to disagree. We are one injury to Welbeck or Maupay away from looking very short up front. And it happened this season. The long winless spell was when Welbeck was out. But any player coming in will need to be prepared to be integrated into the potter style of formation and squad rotation.

We are short upfront with both of them fit.

Yes very true.

But in the mix of youth v experience, youth is winning out - fantastic.
They've still got 1001 lessons to learn.

My point being they're going to learn, develop and grow considerably better in a complete side instead of the current 1-1 specialists.

Anyhoo this is probably all academic.

With a downbeat Leicester, + Bumley Villa and Watford on the horizon we'll be back to boogate before we know it. :lolol:

I do love it when NSC goes all :bounce:tastic.

Our strikers have been the weakest link for a number of seasons now - not up to it

Yes, of course we could do with more prolific strikers - pretty much every team outside the top four could. But it would be far less of a problem if more of our midfielders could score more than zero goals a season.

Anyone who thought we didn't need more firepower, not just in the last window, but in the last 4 or 5 knows absolutely nothing about football. This summer really is crunch time for our recruitment. Get it wrong and we could be in serious trouble.

15 shots today. zero on target. one league goal since january

I saw someone near me showing their mate the shot stats with a sense of WTF? Can anyone remember those 15 shots? I think 12 of them were hit straight at defenders who were stood a foot away and were always going to block the shot, not sure we can say with accuracy if they would have been on target or not. Unless a blocked shot automatically counts as off target...

This season’s different.

We’re not creating the big chances we did last season.

Plus the defensive set up and defence is increasingly shit.

We’ve lost the snap and alertness to danger in defensive midfield.

This goes far beyond buying the next Ings, Jimenez or Toney.

Yep all of this.

Last season it was clear what was missing.

After tonight, I would happily sell the lot and start again

Yeah had the same reaction.
Macallister's blocked shot, Maupay's turn and hit, Cucurella's wide drive is all I can remember of actual shots.
Other than that I don't remember a single shot worth the name.

Macallister's was definitely on target and hit the defender, so I assume that blocked shots are all Off-target (which makes as much sense as the wood work being off target, I suppose)

Unfortunately I fear they feel this summers business has already been done with Undav

I remember saying we should go for Toney 2 years ago when Brentford paid £5m for him. Got laughed off NSC that night. Think he has 12 or 13 for Brentford this season, but what do I know
