I do find it bizarre some on here as so relaxed about a Trump 2nd Presidency, for some to suggest they're both a same is as batshit as Trump's base

Not to mention we now have Tory politicians on the right now suggesting Trump 2.0 would be good for the world. Yeah the leader of the free world a climate change denier, a democracy denier and a serial sex offender, yeah...
I'm reasonably relaxed. I like to think next time round countries either ignore or stand up to his stupid games.

load of waffle, it's "drain the swamp" rebranded to "end the deep state". he did sweet fa on the matter last time round.

part of the reason Trump gets away with it is the American liberals clutching pearls rather than laughing at him. they react in a way that makes the conservatives believe he's doing something.

What is 'Deepstate' according to Trump? It's totally lunatic conspiracy theory isn't it?
We are in such strange times.

Fox News was last night playing down Trumpo's performance in NH, saying that it was not great news for him because he didn't beat Haley by as much as he would've liked. It also conducted a poll that said a large chunk of Republicans wouldn't vote for him if he was the candidate. In contrast, it even admitted it was a good night for Biden, which is bizarre, when you think about it and what they spout about him normally.

So what about this rumour that Michelle Obama is going to run as Dem candidate? The theory being that Biden will withdraw at or just before the convention and give her a clear run. Sounds a bit far fetched to me, but she is currently 3rd favourite to be the next US president in the betting markets, so some people think it’s a credible scenario.

Trump is marginalising the GOP and many who would normally vote GOP are either going to abstain or vote democratic on the ‘anyone but Trump‘ card ala Corbyn. Fox News knows that if many of its viewers vote Biden then its news content needs to change to reflect this. No one is going to watch a news channel that says they are wrong so this could be the start of the turn. The sun did it with Blair so it isn’t a new thing. If Murdock is true to form then we’ll see something similar with one of his rags in the UK.

It would make sense if Biden stood down.

As for Trump, he seems to be declaring this war on everyone who doesn't agree with him.

Close to zero chance. She doesn't like politics.

You can see why trump is heavy favourite to get back in power with this kind of sneering attitude. 74 million voted for trump in 2020, are you calling all those people morons ?
There are approximately 332 million people living in America right now.

I’ve been there. Have you?

I’d be very surprised if only 22% are complete ****ing imbecilic morons. I’d put that figure much higher, perhaps 50%.

Well it gets the conspiracy theory mob to vote for him. And there's a lot of them nowadays.

You mean you don't know what the deep state is? Let me give you a simple definition. It is when those in the public sector "The State" follow their own agenda which may be in conflict with what elected politicians have been mandated to do. Its not a conspiracy. An example would be Obama Holdovers that were leaking Trumps goings on to the media. Or in the UK as Suella Braverman says a 2 speed justice system dishing up policing and justice depending on the type of person and not the offence. This can also include over influential NGOs that receive public funds like Stonewall.

, if anything Trump and Fox News may become besties again - they need their right wing candidate and Trump needs his right wing media exposure.
Good post generally but no, stop thinking left/right and more corporate establishment v the masses, as thats what populism is. Left and rightwing populism tend to agree on the problems but differ on the solutions.

If Michelle Obama did run, I can easily imagine things getting very nasty, let alone if she won.

Is it like the majority of Americans being in favour of more gun control but the NRA being so powerful that the politicians won't budge on the issue?

He didn't do anything about this last time did he?

But you believe that he is the man to change or deal with the 'deep state' thing?

Perhaps you could offer some examples of what he did to deal with this while in power? 3 or 4 would do.
