What a legend though. I was at the MCG in '98 when he yorked the last man to win us the Test and just stood in the middle with his arms aloft, like Stuart Pearce after scoring a free kick.

I too was there at the MCG - don't remember him doing that but he got the last 2 wickets after Dean Headley bowled a mammoth spell.

More memorable for me was the hat-trick he got at the SCG a week or so later - truly 3 of the best balls bowled, they were wasted on the Aussie tail enders.

One of the great tributes to Gough (even though full of arrogance and offence) is that the Aussies used to say he could have been Australian such was his spirit etc.

Exactly Tedebear - its a hugely offensive comment in that it suggests that someone English can't be that good.

I shall ignore the fact that it is a pretty accurate comment though........

He couldn't have been an Aussie cricketer, he's not a stuck up arrogant prick.

(Did I say that out loud?)

Hang on Chappers, Richie Benaud was an Aussie cricketer, and he's the world's wisest man.

(With Humphrey Lyttleton running a close second.)

Come to Sussex, Dazza, you know it makes sense.
