Thank you for that, very handy location to as just down the road from where i live. Northstandchat never fails.

They are very specialized, of the 4 bikes at Chez Stat there's only one here I'd take to them, the rest aren't worthy

Edit - I've realised that sounds very off putting, which isn't my intention.
You'll know exactly what I mean when you go in, (I haven't been for quite a while) they're lovely helpful people but they are Cycling Geeks Level Bosses and quintessential LBS'ers.

You think you should worry?!

I haven't been on a proper ride for a good 2 months now. The daily commute doesn't count as it's very short and pretty much downhill all the way home anyway. Rides with the kids are just that as well, most times I'm literally free wheeling along.

I've also been laying into the food, especially cake, and I was a million miles behind you when I was actually riding. Added to that, I somehow acquired a knee injury and a month down the line it's still not right :(

My plan is for some gentle stuff alone soon, before hopefully more gentle stuff with mates, then embarrassing myself back on the chain gang when it resumes in the Autumn with the hope of getting back to something not quite so embarrassing come winter time.

Enjoy your ride tomorrow. At least the weather looks set to be dry.
It sounds like we're on a similar trajectory.

It looks like I've got a wet ride tomorrow, on top of being pretty banged up after today.
I have to go out, otherwise I'm heading into a depressive sugar fueled slump.

I definitely feel like it's going to take a couple of months just to get back to where I was.
Hopefully a new bike will arrive in a couple of months, so it'll be nice to be tip top ready for that and the winter.

Have faith for dry weather. All this lightening and thunder was going on last night too and it stayed dry. And last week there was plenty of dry weather forecast between the rain and yet it managed to come down in stair rods almost throughout.

You'll be fine

Lotto Soudal's team doctor Servaas Bingé has revealed a CT scan has shown that Kris Boeckmans avoided any serious brain injuries from a heavy crash on stage 8 of the Vuelta a España that saw the 28-year-old placed in a medically induced coma. The 28-year-old suffered severe facial trauma and fractures, a concussion, broken ribs and a punctured lung in the crash and was escorted to a hospital in Murcia for testing.

Some good news about Boeckmans.

Are you out Stat?

I was tempted to go for a ride with my son this morning, but the rain is just incessant.

Guess it's just a taste of what is to come.

I'm just eating some porridge, the first food for 24 hours, (God that burger was big) with a view of going out in an hour or so.
If it's still horribly wet, I'll just do a flat 20 loosener, they'll be no PB's today.

He's probably gone out wearing his Ian Stannard T shirt

Well all I can say is that Demis has been returning some pretty impressive numbers. Terrible voice though

So who's lucky enough to have tomorrow off work then?

It's possibly the most mental GT stage that anyone can remember. Just looking at the profile is enough to make you feel giddy!

Eurosport will be broadcasting the entire stage live from around 12.30pm. I'll have to make do with ITV4 highlights in the evening.

The KoM battle and the break will be interesting for sure, but we could end up with any GC battle just coming down to the final climb if everyone just rides conservatively, and who could blame them! Would be great if we got real fireworks instead.

Will be a fascinating GC shake up anyway as it's just impossible to know where everyone's form is even now I think. And of course the big question is can Dumoulin really hang in there on a stage like this?

I'm holding off with predictions as I don't want to jinx anything and I've got pretty much every prediction I've made this season wrong anyway. Anyone else fancy having a stab at what they think might happen?

Anyone else realise that it was 5yrs ago yesterday that Laurent Fignon passed away? A legend and my personal cycling hero growing up (as if you couldnt guess!)

For the next Geeks Ride, if you get there early, this is pretty much Hamilton's warm up...

Right, due to a puking wife and son, I've phoned in sick today and happen to be set up for an afternoon of vuelta viewing!

(plus occasional tending to the sick!)

Nope, been watching since 12.30 - Froome already had a tumble!

Strange old stage. I was trying to work too, but found it really difficult to follow and keep track of where everyone was. Maybe it was just too much and lacked a real climax? Don't know, what did you make of it?

Was a strange stage, I think everyone was a bit in awe of it so the fireworks were minimal.

On a separate note, anyone on here replaced a freehub?

I got a campag one for my new token wheels and it was very easy to swap Iver, however the freewheeling is very sticky. Obviously it's brand new so won't be grit etc in the freehub.

It's bad enough that the wheel will stop after a few revolutions on spinning it.
