In his goal area and penalty area. He can also handle the ball by taking a throw in.

watching the Oldham Everton game when the Oldham goalie came up for the last corner and jumped with his hands in the air as if by force of habit. Just wondering if he had punched it in would the goal have stood

It would not have stood if the officials had spotted it.

Sad fact alert: Goalkeepers used to be allowed to handle the ball anywhere in their own half. A long, long time ago.

Yes, yes it would. Keepers are allowed to handle it in either box. In fact, had he caught the cross, and dived over the goal line, gridiron-style, that too, would have counted.

Yes it would have stood. Never understood why teams don't employ that tactic- get the keeper in the box for a corner or throw in, he can then catch it and just run into the opposition's net.

If he caught the cross would it be a back pass?

Not true. A keeper can't just run into the net, he must throw the ball in the air and head / punch / volley it in. Half volleys do NOT count, despite some people not getting this rule yet.

Does anyone know why some teams have a second or "away" kit? Why can't they just always play in their own colours. Seems like a ploy to milk more merchandise money out of the fans if you ask me.
