There were numerous camps and Preston Barracks was certainly one but I've also read that there was one behind the King & Queen and there was a special serving hatch for the soldiers. This would be where the swimming pool is now.

Good to see the 'then and now' images from Brighton Rock.

I notice the 'Reel Streets' website also lists the film 'Jigsaw' from 1962 which was a detective story filmed around Brighton, Lewes & Peacehaven, using many recognisable locations such as the old Police station under the Town Hall in Little East St..

Not a major classic film like 'Brighton Rock' but has an interesting plot well worth watching for the many locations and street views. IMHO the monochrome film adds to the nostalgic atmosphere. Quite striking to see the lack of traffic congestion around Brighton.

No doubt NSCers could provide images to Reel Streets of their missing locations in New Road/Church St. in Brighton and of West St in Lewes, but am not sure about the house in Peacehaven.
