Ford considering closing two of their UK factories.

lets be honest, that could be a headline from any other year in about the past 20 years*. it will be losing due to the weaker £ when importing cars into the UK, not exporting parts from the UK, and looking for a government hand out.

*oh it was! :lolol:

Ford considering closing two of their UK factories.

Shanks said that Brexit had already cost Ford about $60 million in the second quarter with the cost for the year to run to $200 million. Each year until Britain leaves the EU would cost it $400 million to $500 million, the company said.

Almost a third of Ford's European sales are in the UK.

Weak pound is really hurting, so much of the supply chain comes from the Euro zone.

Oh come on now. You know they don’t like facts which undermine the remain lies.

Same as them going on about this recession which we’re going to have ‘any time soon, just you make my words’.

More about USD weakness. It was similarly weak in Aug 2014 and we had USD1.7. There's a shift from USD in Euro, seems sensible with the orange man in charge

I do not recall predicting any of this. Think you have the wrong person.

No, I have the right person, should I find time I could no doubt show that you post economic wishes rather than facts, a recent example includes how you were quick to cheer the post by replying 'Britain on the brink' when another poster posted an outdated link of an headline 2016 which never materialised.

This was you posting in May 2016:

The UK economy is tanking, the pound is collapsing, unemployment rising;

Facts:

GDP had risen to 0.5% for that quarter you posted and UK was the fastest growing economy in the G7 in 2016.
https://www.ft.com/content/1666262a-e39e-11e6-8405-9e5580d6e5fb

Sterling rose to a 2 year high of 1.31 against the Euro that month when you posted.
http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=GBP&to=EUR&view=2Y

Unemployment was still historically low from May - July 2016 at 4.9% when you posted

So not a good start ..........................

Do you honestly think Brexit strengthens the case for automotive manufacturing in the UK?

It would be the same arguments based on predicted outcomes of any agreed negotiation the consequence of which we still wouldn't know for sure, it would be just more claim and counter claim from Remainers and Brexiteers, you like many just cannot bring yourself to accept the result and you just yearn for the UK to remain within the EU, it's your political default position, it's not democracy you care about it's you wanting to impose your own beliefs on those of us that don't agree with you.

Please read my post: the arguments wouldn't be the same because much more information about the implications of leaving would be available. The problem is that you don't seem to trust the people to make fact-based decisions.

We have a lot of automotive know-how in this country, and with all the negative publicity about German cars,I don't see why not.Formula 1 teams seem to think so,anyway.

I don’t dispute low unemployment. But you can’t just look at this in isolation. For example, when you have an utterly embarrassing level of productivity and it takes someone in the UK twice as long to make something it stands to reason you need more employment. And when all the EU types have gone home and been replaced with work-shy types from Stoke it will only get worse.

We have discussed your inability to grasp and comprehend simple English before. You were talking about predictions. Look this word up in the dictionary and then explain to me how my quoted post, which is commentary, is a prediction.

Shame no one wants Uk cars “UK car sales see first drop for six years”

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-42571828

Whereas “Last year's German car sales highest since 2010”

https://www.thelocal.de/20180104/last-years-german-car-sales-highest-since-2010

The only German car manufacturer holding their own in the UK is Mercedes, though across the board they are out performing most others. The UK figures are shocking and EU manufacturers can't put up prices due to weak demand

Says the bloke willing to believe a Daily Express piece about how a man who has been brain dead 50 years would have voted in the Brexit referendum.

I reckon I can predict how he would have voted :lolol:

OK, I'll ditch my plans for another VAG purchase. You're in the West Midlands so can I ask you again to recommend a family car from a British company?

To be fair, if he has quoted you correctly - "The UK economy is tanking, the pound is collapsing, unemployment rising", the word IS in your statement isn't a prediction it's a statement that it was happening when you made the post.

You could by a Bentley - the low end ones are put together in Britain and the high end ones are made in Britain.

Yes Nicholas Soames has it wrong. Churchill would have been a rabid UKIP supporter
