Yes, I was going to say that. The artists are predictable, but many of the tracks aren't. I mean, Walking In My Shoes is a great choice of Depeche Mode track.

Whilst reasonably familiar with their output, I had to google the Talking Heads track. Turns out it’s literally their first single and not on any studio albums.

As an aside, I love lists like this.

It's decent enough to comfortably be a Reed top 10, but it's not the track you kick the others out of bed for.

In your opinion, but then this is 60 of Bono’s....and it’s the songs which saved his life; he’s not saying it’s their best song. Jesus...I’m defending Bono. These are definitely strange times we live in

Indeed. In fact, U2 covered it. He has an attachment to it.

Not a popular opinion here, but think that U2 have been a great band over many years, although not so much in recent time. Bono, despite all the stick he gets, is one of the few rich rock stars who tries to use his spotlight for good causes.

Love him or hate him, he has great musical taste.

https://bono.lnk.to/60songs

Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Jonny Cash, The Verve, Joy Division, Lou Reed, Daft Punk, Massive Attack, INXS, Nick Cave, Oasis, Talking Heads etc etc.

He's written fan letters to the arists. First are here: https://www.u2.com/60songs Great project.

The first 3 U2 albums are class, and I had the pleasure of seeing them down Jenks in 81.

There are some absolute corkers on that list.

He has a couple of his own. I would like to pay tribute to the loveliness of U2 by posting this Ferry Corsten remix....

Edit, this is possibly a slightly better version. More of Bono's excellent vocals.

They created about half a dozen songs I really like, that’s good enough for me. I’m glad they found fame for that reason alone. Plus I love the rhythm section of Clayton and Mullen.

Bono being widely disliked, won’t stop me enjoying those tracks.

More than that. The first album was a revelation - the reinvention of rock music, after punk, and when modern music was the slightly dystopian sounds of The Fall, The Blue Orchids, and the more tentative new rock of the Chameleons and the Comsats.

Proper post modern cock rock. And some of the songs. I won't piss all over Wozza's thread. I'll start a new one.....

Just to add U2's 4th album The Unforgettable Fire is one of my favourites of all time.

I liked most of their stuff up to and including Zooropa. They weren’t as consistent after this, and my tastes went elsewhere, but there’s plenty in that opening 13 years which I still like.
