What is frustrating is after every bad performance there is an over the top 'sell him he's crap' reaction

Who to?.... They are not exactly queuing up to buy him are they?

I'm sorry but that just isn't true. He was no worse than CMS or most of the team in fact.

Yes he was. He could barely pass the ball. CMS was also poor but we were creating loads of chances.

Received his fair share of stick on this forum, let's point out the facts:
  1. He's only just turned 23
  2. He's already made 117 appearences for us
  3. He plays many positions, Stiker, Left Wing, Right Wing, CAM and even Centre Mid, that's utility.
  4. Already playing at a higher level than some good strikers did at his age (such as Holt, Murray, Graham).

Can't wait to see his development in the future, hope he stay Albion for a long time.

I'll be up the :amex: today cheering on :albion2: and Barnes. COME ON BOYS!

Add tenacious, hard in the tackle, bottle to stand up to hard opposing defenders.
Barnes contributes that to the team, in contrast to the likes of Lopez, Dicker, Vicente, Harley .... who shy out of 50:50's against bullies.

In your opinion.

When everyone's opinions are averaged out:

Bridcutt 7.72
Kuszczak 6.13
Hoskins 6.13 (20mins)
Lualua 6.13
Bridge 5.89
Orlandi 5.71 (61mins)
Barnes 5.52 (36mins)
David Lopez 5.08 (77mins)
Bruno 4.86
Dobbie 4.77 (20mins)
Greer 4.73
Crofts 4.32 (77mins)
Mackail-Smith 4.16
El Abd 3.34

Team average: 5.32

He was 6th of 14, was rated above CMS, and above the team average.

My own opinion was that he was quiet when he first came on, could/should have done more to prevent the second goal (he was stood right beside Vydra when he took the shot) but when Dobbie and Hoskins came on he really came into his own, playing some wonderful forward passes.

Of course, watford are one of the three teams we played twice and you could be thinking of the away fixture much earlier this season, where his performance was a little below the team average and in the bottom 4 for that game:

El Abd 7.70
Kuszczak 7.63
Mackail-Smith 7.34
Buckley 7.32
Greer 7.11
Bridge 6.86
Bruno 6.84
Calderon 6.67
Bridcutt 6.61
Hammond 6.14
Barnes 6.13
Dicker 5.86
Orlandi 5.32
Dobbie 5.08

Subs

Team average: 6.61

Posts like this prove people STILL don't know how we play. If LuaLua hadn't been selfish Barnes would have scored

Thought he was excellent today. Made some good tackles.
He was part of a team, that beat a premiership team today.

His contribution helped us win, can't ask for more really.
