If we can't afford his wages then there is no way a smaller Spanish team would be able to.I'm intrigued about what will happen to Fati in the summer, expect his wages will be too rich for us even on loan again, but who else will go for him - Villa, Newcastle? Maybe he will take a bit paycut to join a smaller Spanish team? Could he end up somewhere Stateside?
I think it all depends on Barcelona and their finances. Can they afford to keep Ansu as part of their wage structure? Not really. Can they sell him for the type of money they expected when he signed his contract? Very unlikely. A loan is probably a likely option again, to either us or a similar sized side that can afford to cover the majority of his wages.
Barca will be banking on him having a good, injury free, season and either a) reintegrating him as an important first team player, or b) selling him for enough money that they are able to improve their financial status. I think that was the plan for this season but unless he has a world-beating end to the season, the injury may have put those plans back a year.
