Not really.

They'll use exactly the same rules whether they'd drawn us or Manchester United. That's the way such schemes work: pre-defined rules that get followed regardless of the opposition.

Relative to many games, demand for the game against us is probably quite low although boosted by the 'new ground' factor. Liverpool's support will be such that even a relatively unattractive game, midweek and hundreds of miles from home will easily sell out.

And what else do they have to do with their benefits?

Plus of course, Liverpool have a massive fan-base nationwide, not just in & near their home city. Tickets could well sell out even if they were made available only to their London and south-east based fans. Come the match, the percentage of fans who actually travelled down from Liverpool will probably be quite low.

I do agree a, all jokes aside, huge club like Liverpool need to have restrictions in place so fans who have followed them round the country get priority, but doesn't it create a closed shop?

mmmm that's interesting Steve. Where have those tickets come from? Are they LFC fans who ( as suggested above) bought them for the loyalty points and then want to get their money back ?

Have been told by Scouse mate that Liverpool are running coaches straight to the Amex and back again after match at a cost of £150 return, what with ticket, food, beer, it's an expensive tin pot club game for them, expect most of the crowd to be southern glory hunters.

My boyfriend was looking at getting a ticket in the Liverpool end, and the restrictions are ridiculous!!

From the website:

From 7th-8th September:

Tickets are available to Season Ticket Holders, Members and Fan Card Holders who recorded Exeter City (24.8.11), Leeds United (22.9.09), Arsenal (28.10.09) and Tottenham (12.11.08) League Cup away fixtures. Tickets are available online, on the booking line - 0843 170 5555 and from the Ticket Office from 8.15am.

Sept 8th onward:

Tickets are available to Season Ticket Holders and Fan Card Holders who recorded 3 of the following 4 League Cup away games: Exeter City (24.8.11), Leeds United (22.9.09), Arsenal (28.10.09) Tottenham (12.11.08). Tickets are available online, on the booking line - 0843 170 5555 and from the Ticket Office from 8.15am.

Surely the game can't be THAT important to fans?!

Looks like they are making sure scousers can get tickets rather than plastic glory hunters from the south

Seems to me all they are doing is rewarding the loyal supporters who attend the most games......and rightly so! They are a massive club and limited availability at games so how would it be fair for sombody who goes week in week out to lose out to someone who only goes once in a blue moon because that game suits them. May be a bit harsh for those trying to get into it now but there's not an infinate amount of tickets!

I think you'll be quite surprised at the number of Scousers who'll come down from Liverpool for this game.
