All Night Caf or Down Right Naff?

Inspired by my avatar I was thinking back to past Market Diner (All Night Caf) nocturnal visits - fights, horrendous birds eating double gutbusters and generally not being able to keep the feckin' Market Special with chips down in my gut for the night.
Top nosh or greasy tosh? Any tales from the the legend that is the Market diner...?

We used to go there every weekend when I was at Uni, I'll never forget one of the bouncers there it was so funny, he was a massive black bloke who looke dlike a proper nutter. This young student was giving him grief and goign on about how he will do the bouncer over if he didn't let him in, said student was typical full of himself rugby boy.

In the end the rugby boy lost his temper as the bouncer just ignored him and smacked him on the nose, the bvouncer didn't sop much as flinch, let some more punte rin before grabbing rugby boy round the neck lifting him off the gorund aobut 6 inches and very politely told him to leave before he gets put in an ambulance.

Hilarious for us watching, needless to say within two minutes rugby boy wa sno where to be seen.

One of the mor emausing moments,

Top place.

I remember the Albion centenery celebration - the "Evening of Legends". Cost a bloody fortune for one of the worst meals I've ever eaten (with service to match).

All came good, though, with a late night visit to the Market Diner and a plateful of some decent scran.

*** Recommended.

Top nosh, many a drunken walk home has involved stopping for a fry up in the all nite diner.

Most memorable night at the diner involved finding the fatty tax man slumped outside fast asleep. I said should we get him a taxi back to his flat? My friend Mark said no that he'd still be there when we finished. He was but somone had nicked his phone and watch! :D

Now you're talking. Best meal and best value anywhere.
A Gutbuster is the food of kings. If you haven't been, you haven't lived. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Well, what are you waiting for? GO NOW!

There are many things I miss about not living in Brighton any more and the All Nite Caff is definitely one of them.

Often on my way home from a boozy night I'm known to utter to my mates,

"Ooh I could murder a fry-up"
"You aint gonna get one at this time of night."

then I go into one about the cafe, and how I'm amazed it is a more common idea.

Used to go all the time - but I've had some funny/bad scrapes in there and not just the type you get when you try getting down the precarious strairs to the toilets.
Took me years to realise that there were toilets there.
I remember how pissed off I used to get when it shut over christmas and when the students went back.
Anyway my favourite story about the dinner was after a night in the gloucester me and a mate parked up next to these two lads, one was quite chatty and the other was virtually asleep.
For some reason I started being very sarcastic and acted like a posh sod. Next thing I know I was being mugged.....literally!!!
The sleepy guy had woken up and decided to attack me with his mug of (still with tea in), he then tried to strangle me. It was all so wierd - I didn't even realise he was conscious.
haha - still makes me smile now - just the look on the guys face as he was being escorted out with beans all down his trousers

OMG - I've been missing out! Where is this Caf?

Round by the market. If you come out of the King and Queen and cross straight over the grass, and walk up the road opposite as if you are going to the Police station. First on your left, it's halfway along the road.

You'll spot it because there'll be a big queue to get in and 2 bouncers on the door.

Definitely recommended, normally after a heavy night on the beer. It's cheaper and easier to digest than a curry too. Always go for a Mixed Grill instead of a Gutbuster 'cos it doesn't come with fried bread which I wouldn't (shouldn't?) eat anyway.

Only been there once.

It was after the Cheaterfield championship clinching match. Went to the pub and enjoyed a lock in then went to the all night cafe on the way back to where I was staying at about 2 in the morning.

Its amazing. Was in there once and the bouncer were arguing with this guy, they told him to f*** off. We went in and 5 minutes later the bouncers shouted for everybody to stay inside whille the guy attacked the diner with a spade. Needless to say everyone ran outside to take him on as they didn't like him busting up their favourite late night eatery and the guy got thoroughly smashed up, the twat.

Has anyone ever eaten and finished a double gutbuster. I struggle on a normal gutbuster but I have witnessed the double be consumed and it is quite a disturbing site.

Worst was going in there on crutches (ruptured cruciates) and just as I'm about to order it all kicks off with people flying everywhere. I just tried to keep on my feet and hold my position in front of the till, haha.
