What classifies as 'an 80's child'? I ask because I consider myself to be one, at the turn of the decade I was 1 year old and by 1989 I was 11 and I can assure you at those ages I was not listening to The Jam or The Cure etc

Edit: Just realised that although the thread states 'children' the opening post says 'teenager'

For me, the Beastie Boys played a big part of my early 90s as I thought (wrongly) that they were a bit of a joke in the 80s.

Didn't one of the killing joke guys pass away a few years back or am I just mixing that with someone else?

Some great tracks over the yrs

Paul Raven the bass player died recently. Who was in them since the early 80s. They now have the original bass player Youth who he replaced. Might see if I can nip down to see them in Portsmouth. Last time I saw them was the Hammersmith Palais circa 79/80!

80s was FAR better than 90s for music. But then I DESPISE Britpop.

Depeche Mode
Kraftwerk
Joy Division
The Cure
The Smiths

Just perfect.

Wow, haven't come across anyone else who's even hear of "The Stupids". Great band at the time. I was quite into the 'alternative' screne, so bands like The Pixies, The Fall, Husker Du, The Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jnr come mind. However, if I had to pick just one defining band of the '80s if would probably have to be the mighty SPANDAU BALLET ! (no, seriously!)
