Some good analysis on Sky, some real difference of opinion on why things are going tits up for England. I think the England coaches have questions to answer - It was obvious Bresnan was going to get short balls into his body, while Broad's lbw was identical to Perth. Johnson on Sky saying " we're just sticking to our plan." England doing nothing to make them alter their plan.

Why is Broad playing when evidently he still isn't fit? It's evident how little faith the England management have in the back-up seamers when they are prepared to play a 70% fit Broad over a 100% fit Finn/Tremlett/Rankin. Makes it all the more strange that they left Graham Onions at home.

Coaches have had a mare. They've picked 3 players who were never even in contention, no preparation for Johnson, no answer to what they saw in the first couple of tests, half the team are blocking and the other half in one-day mode.

If you made a composite team based on this series not one Englishman would make it in. We've taken some beatings over the years but it's been a while since not even one player has performed four tests in.

Not exactly a vast pool of players queuing up to replace him. It's been a bad series for him and Pietersen will always give opponents a chance. If you want someone to play a Boycott style 7 hour innings of scoring 8 runs an hour, he isn't your man. But I think the problem is we aren't rotating the strike enough and scoring enough 1s and 2s. In a team where the scoreboard is ticking over, Pietersen will flourish, as he was in England teams in previous years where they seemed to be able to bat that way.
