24 points in a calendar month...the highest total in English football EVER?

Apparently, it won't be a record, although we probably have jinxed it now.

My statto friend, who works for the Daily Express, says that Rotherham achieved the same feat in February 1982, and Bristol City won eight times in September 1954, though that was in the days of two points for a win. Still amazing, though. It's in paper this morning.
Rotherham did it in 28 days. We've been given 29 to attempt it.

And, anyway, according to Wikipedia, Rotherham achieved 9 wins in February 1982.

So the skinny is we could equal the record for a calendar month, but not beat it, yes?

Rotherham's record was EIGHT league games, each worth THREE points.

Tuesday 2nd February 1982 Rotherham United 2-1 Derby County
Saturday 6th February 1982 Cardiff City 1-2 Rotherham United
Tuesday 9th February 1982 Grimsby Town 1-2 Rotherham United
Saturday 13th February 1982 Rotherham United 1-0 Cambridge United
Tuesday 16th February 1982 Rotherham United 3-0 Shrewsbury Town
Saturday 20th February 1982 Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Rotherham United
Tuesday 23rd February 1982 Rotherham United 2-0 Wrexham
Saturday 27th February 1982 Rotherham United 2-0 Crystal Palace

Don't believe what you read on Wikipedia. Obviously.

Incidentally, haven't most of those teams that Rotherham played had turbulent times since 1982?

Great achievement! Gives that game more of an edge now!

Not sure Gus and the team see it that way.

We have a tired team who are grinding out wins against averages (at best) sides. The priority is to keep getting results so we are mathematically up before we run out of steam I suspect. Other than they want to win and keep the winning sequence going for the sake of keeping winning, not sure they give a damn about this specific record.

I heard a stat that the current run is the first time the Albion have won seven league games in a row since 1954, which may not be correct, have we ever won eight?

So it would EQUAL the record and still be a record in a way yes?!

Yep, although would have been 74 points if 3 points for a win! Only 42 games played that season too.
