This is the key point, at 50 overs old it really did look dead, it's no surprise that Johnson and Haddin managed to chalk up a few runs. We need to bat sensibly and not lose 6 wickets in 2 sessions by playing silly shots like they did, then take advantage once their bowlers been running in all day in the sun.

So far it's deja vu all over again. The Australian top six failing to break 50 and their runs coming from the lower order.

What an opportunity missed - I'm sure the Aussies would like to reach 350 but even if they do at what cost? Harris and Haddin would have to bat all morning, then bowl and keep for the rest of the day in the heat of Brisbane. Not ideal for them given Harris is injury-prone.

It looked pretty dead after 20 overs! We still managed to get the top order out cheaply. Of course we don't know how good / bad this score is until we finish them off and we bat ourselves, but it looks well under par for me.

Forecast looks like it's improved - couple of possible storms for days 3 and 4 but nothing to suggest it'll drag the match into draw territory. Johnson looked handy with the bat; let's hope it's compensated by a spell of appaling and incompetent bowling at some point during the series (just so we get to hear the song of course).
