Oh well. We just need someone better, probably taking another non-U21 place in the squad - bad news for 1 of Murphy, Norwood or Skalak I guess, who may need to give up their place in the 25.

It's only the Daily Mail and it counts Newcastle out for signing other players on loan from Chelsea. Plenty of others.

Last season Chelsea had 67 players out on loan. What a joke

However this works pretty well for Juventus and brings in millions. You loan them out for a fee and their wages so you are in profit. You then either sell them at a later date for a fantastic transfer fee or if they turn out to be the real deal you have a superstar on the books. The more decent youngsters you have the more money you make

Hmmm, Daily mail are fairly reliable with these stories so we move on. Not a great start for the annual striker search

Hugely disappointing if true. Think he's perfect for how we play - physical presence, pace, an eye for goal and seems like a decent sort. Shows how difficult signing what we need is going to be, even with the PL millions

Payments from the PL to clubs is broken down as follows -

An equity payment - an overseas TV payment - a central commercial payment.

Each club receives an equal share of these payments.

On top of that there is a

Facilities payment - based on the number of times a club appears on domestic TV (and each club has a minimum amount.

A merit payment - prize money

This season Sunderland received £100million from the above payments.

However - excluding the top six clubs - on average clubs receive approx 60% - 65% of their income from TV, prize money and commercial payments from the PL. the other 35% - 40% comes from match day receipts and the club's direct commercial activity. Man Utd receive approx 50% of its income from its own commercial activities.

The minimum income for a club in the PL is approx £160million - £170million and it goes up from there - Man Utd will have an income of well over £500million this year - it would have been close to £600million if they played in the Champions League.

N.B. Parachute payments for teams relegated this year are based on the income they recevied from the PL - 55% in year 1, 45% in year 2 and then 3 years at 20% of that.

If we get relegated after one season we only receive two years of parachute payments, not three.

So is that a total of five years parachute payments?

If we get relegated after one season we only receive two years of parachute payments, not three.

So is that 55% and 45% as in Jolly Red Giant above?

Shame if true, we certainly need more pace and movement up top. Personally believe we need 2 forwards and they will cost. On to plan b I guess.

We will probably only play one up front next season. A pacy striker would be a nice option to have but personally think we could do with a top quality hold up player at the top of the transfer target list.

Trouble is, we are now in to June, which means the usual suspects will start the usual annual "Doom and Gloom" Threads (and many of them!).

Shame if true, and I don't think it would be the best move for the player either as he will compete with Gayle for his place, Come here and he was a shoe-in for many more starts, which is what he and his parent club want for him.

Very true. The mood was not good after we missed out on Pritchard and we did ok after that!
