I really enjoyed it, took me quite a while to drink. Went back for another one and alas they had sold out.
I picked up a Goose Island Bourbon County instead, which I am drinking with the football now.

It took me quite a while to acquire the taste of stronger beers but now I love double-IPAs. And at 9.5% ABV you do need to put the brakes on when it comes to drinking. It's definitely one to drink very slowly and savour/enjoy; a bit like those Mikkeller stouts we were discussing the other day.
Following on from the Brewdog label discussion on NSC the other day I had to smile at a young, enthusiastic, newly arrived craft beer lover I met in Worthing's Wandering Goose the other night. He was waxing lyrical about the Icelandic Einstok range and how the water they used came from the glaziers formed during the prehistoric age.
I'll give them a go next time I'm in and report back on the purest water used in any brewing.............apparently.

I had a couple of bottles of Einstok in The Great Eastern a year or so back, remarkably average.
Dreadful pub that. We all went in there one pre-match and swore never again. Going to do Craft more now before games. Both their casks and their craft kegs usually top notch.

Tucking into a couple of bottles of Brewdog Dead Metaphor Scottish Chocolate Breakfast Stout and some Beaufort cheese. That's living alright.
Interesting article on craft beer in the Czech Republic and some recommended beers to look out for. I have to put Prague back on my list of cities to visit now.

Excellant. I've just bought ten on the way home from the Rustington branch. Have not been able to buy any in Worthing as Socialist Sid nabs them as soon as they are put on the shelf. He has been sleeping in his car in the car park to get in there early I've heard.

seems to be mainly concerned with GMO sourced ingredients. odd they made an issue about "fish bladder" in Guiness, reckon the author isnt aware Isinglass is pretty common in ales and i would be surprised if it turned up in many of the recommended "gmo free" listed beers.

Yeah, they do seem to be getting their knickers in a twist over GMO which is in half the stuff in American supermarkets anyway
So it's that bloody isinglass that has been making me feel shit after I drink 8 pints or so. That explains it.
Isinglass has been used in beer and wine production back to the time of the Romans. It seems a little late to start panicking about this one now. Technically you don't drink it anyway, it is just used to clear the yeasty haze. In wine it doesn't enter the bottle (and has largely been replaced) and in beer it sinks to the bottom of the cask and is chucked out with the dregs. The whole Guinness thing actually made no sense to me. Is the fructose used in Extra Stout or some other Guinness beer, Harp for example ?

well it seems a rather redundant concern anyway, since the fructose would be consumed by the fermentation process. same applies to GMO corn or sugar filler now i think about it.
That's one way of looking at it, but as a consumer I want to know that the alcohol I drink is perfectly safe... oh wait a second !

Looking forward to a few this evening. Have a Kernel IPA, a 660ml bottle of Punk IPA and a Holy Hopping Hell in the fridge. Will have a stop off at the Star and probably Craft as well.
