Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

Rotherhams point are removed, but the result has changed for everyone EXCEPT us. In this scenario, both us and Rotherham have been punished. I know we cant assume the result would have been different, in fact if he hadnt have played, his replacement may have scored a hatrick. So should the...

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

My whole point is that if they gained an advantage, they gained it over us. If points are adjusted, you shouldnt do half a job by removing some. Either change the whole result or fine them, not expunge the match.

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

You can in a cup comp. If what you say is correct, then you should not imo dock Rotherham any points as they may have won anyway. Just fine them.

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

A red card or a bad refereeing decision happens during the game and is subjective to the refs view. An ineligible player should be known before the game. I still believe if it does not affect the outcome then they should not lose the points, just a fine. If it is believed that this offense...

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

We will not agree on this and I respect your view. The precident is clear and defacto that is what will be implemented, but my opinion is the precident was set and it is wrong. My point is not what 'will' happen, but what I think should happen.

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

Yes we lost but my point remains we lost to a team who fielded amplayer that wasnt available. Say we fielded a goalkeeper who we shouldnt have and he saved a penalty, is that still the right result for the team he denied a win too? Just because the impact may not be as obvious it still has to...

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

I know that will be the outcome, i dont expect common sense here, but it doesnt make it right. And if this had happened to Wigan at Borough as mentioned earlier, then yes result should be overturned, it makes no sense as the losing team have been cheated more than the chasing teams..

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

Also if they had a better option in that position he would have played so again, they by default have gained an on the pitch advantage

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

But Rotherham have fielded an extra squad member. Thus giving the manager greater choice on the pitch. We cannot prove it altered the result, but equally it may have done. I understand that Wigan and Millwall may complain BUT how can it be fair that a match ends with both teams losing. If...

Rotherham fielded an ineligible player against Albion

Trouble is, Albion and Rotherham both lose here as both get 0 points. The winners are all the teams around us both. A draw would be 1 each so one more point for Millwall and Wigan to chase. It actually makes the game futile, like it never happened (apart from our negative gd). Both teams in...
