There is a lot more cricket, but effectively it is 3 different England squads for Tests, ODI's and T20's. The concern comes for the players who bridge all 3 formats like Broad and Jimmy who just aren't necessarily getting the rest they need and carry knocks throughout the year.
That's actually a little bit inaccurate. The tour to South Africa starts December 2015, with a 4 test series, and 5 ODI's. It's not scheduled yet, but the tour is pencilled for Dec through to Feb 2016. In SA they have often played the T20's first, then the ODI's, then the tests. It could be that...
Not really, Cook would never have mentioned until the media got hold of it. He was then asked a direct question if they had crossed the line, and he intimidated that maybe they had. That is very different to Cook coming out revealing to the press they'd crossed the line which is what you are...
I'd only change it if Jimmy gets a ban.
Pointless putting bowlers in for 1 test, then dropping them again. Woakes bowled well, Jordan is the type of player who needs a bit of time I think.
We're messing about too much with all these bowlers. If you win a test match, unless the surface changes...
He's played 5 test matches, has a century, scored 259 runs, has a 5 for, and taken 18 wickets….I think we can give him the benefit of the doubt for now can't we.
It's not always the number of wickets, he was threatening throughout. To only concede 2 runs an over, bowl 26 overs in that first innings, taking 5 for 53 is worthy of MoM in many a match to be honest.
Moeen unlucky not to get it with his performance, as perhaps are Ballance and Bell, but...
Clearly hotspot is not a definitive tool, but works to help decisions being made in the overall package of DRS (if in use of course).
The Indians have always maintained DRS undermines umpires, but if anything this series has show that NOT having DRS undermines umpires as their decisions effect...
Now we'll see what Cook is about.
Let's get an early tea on the go, slog now for the next 15mins, add 25 or so, then have an extra long evening session at them. Thank goodness Root is there, as Cook is batting like his wicket matters at this point...
Quality bowling from Kumar.
I think we need to stick by Robson. Opening is an a real mental test, and we are ejecting far too many potential openers without giving them a real chance. I've seen enough from him to think he can get through this stuttering start - although 1, 19, 127, 24, 59, 17...
Realistically, making them follow on would have been the only way to have given India a chance of winning the game.
Had they batted well, got a total of 400+, then England would have been batting for 2 sessions chasing a tricky total on a wearing pitch - we know what can happen there.
Even if...
I think this is probably it. We're trying to find our best back up fast bowlers right now and putting them under even more pressure with a follow on probably isn't the way to go. With so much reliance on Jimmy and Broad, I guess this decision makes sense.
Need to build slowly to start with to be fair, nothing wrong with just nudging that lead on, but once it reaches 300, we should really start belting out the park after lunch so that we can get them in, maybe a tricky 20mins before tea, then the whole of the evening session at them.
BUT, the...
We've had a nights rest, and barely bowled this morning, it would have been tempting to stick them back in.
But, this isn't a bad choice, but have to give ourselves most of, if not all of the evening session to bowl at them, so really need to crack on. If we are cautious, build a ridiculously...
