Now we'll see what Cook is about.

Let's get an early tea on the go, slog now for the next 15mins, add 25 or so, then have an extra long evening session at them. Thank goodness Root is there, as Cook is batting like his wicket matters at this point...

What ****ing idiot he is.

If England fail to win this because they run out of overs, he ought to be sacked.

Do behave. If we fail to bowl them out in 130 overs - a few more overs with tired bowlers and an old ball will not be the reason.

196-3 (40 overs)

Lead 435

Root bowled. 56 from 41 balls :clap2:

Captain Cook declares.

England 205-4 (40.4 overs)

Target TEN wickets or 445 in about 130 overs.

We'll see won't we. If India are 8 or 9 down at close of play tomorrow, that's exactly the reason.

You've got to say, England have absolutely nailed that. One man (Cook) hung around (although he scored at above 60) and the rest slogged around him. 205 off 40 overs is more than we'd normally score in an ODI, and they've left India a nigh on impossible chase and themselves 129 overs to bowl them out.

Not at all - if they've batted through 129 overs on a 4th/5th day pitch at a loss of only 8 or 9 wickets it will be because the bowlers have underperformed. They've got to bat about 30% longer than they managed in the first innings, and on a more difficult pitch. It would be churlish in the extreme to blame the timing of the declaration if they fail to win from here.

This is all set up rather nicely. I just hope our lack of a frontline spinner isn't going to be an issue dismissing them on a wearing 5th day track.

Great to see Cook in the runs again.

Long session ahead... 2 hours and 55 minutes... interesting times.

Ooooh and Jimmy parries a stinger return catch from Vijay in the first over and then beats him outside off.

Wow... India committing suicide.. no sign of a wicket and then... it's a RUN OUT! Vijay gone!

Great work by Stuart Broad at short midwicket. Underarm diving throw and out by inches.

26-1
