Incident in the North East Corner

Blown light I was the steward that bits of the light nearly hit. We did not see the burning light and the first we knew was when the light blew and then I was not sure where it came from. A piece of the light landed next to me and did nearly hit a woman and a child. At first we thought someone...

How was your day at work dear?

Both of these are fair questions but I am unable to answer them. Perhaps you could email Adrian Morrison who us the safety officer at the club. As part of the heavy handed response to the WSL ejection, I did mention that this is not a viable option under normal circumstances. One should not...

How was your day at work dear?

interesting debate and I think some questionable comments. Firstly, I do not believe that stewards should "expect" to be verbally and physically abused. We are there to comply with FA regulations and to ensure the safety of spectators. If you have an honestly held belief that abuse goes with...

How was your day at work dear?

It's not quite that simple. You cannot enter a hostile crowd alone. You need Police and response teams. And of course when you do that the club are accused of being heavy handed. We will complete interventions at the turnstiles when they arrive for the next match.

How was your day at work dear?

Well I arrived about 5.30pm and after a briefing I took my regular place in the North Stand. After the gates had opened one of my fellow stewards pointed out that there was a couple of people who where very hostile. No problems as we are not playing well and emotions are running high. After...

ben duncan green councillor = tosspot

You can email Ben Duncan and put pressure on him to resign. Don't send abusive messages as he will probably go scuttling off to the Police and they have enough to do without him bothering them. ben.duncan@brighton-hove.gcsx.gov.uk

Could Nigel Farage end up a great British political leader?

I saw Nigel Farage on TV this week complaining about being on a train and there were no English accents. Presumably he was with his wife?! I think his thinly veiled xenophobia is to win votes. I cannot make out what his views on immigration are. (Actually I don't really care as they are all a...

Could Nigel Farage end up a great British political leader?

There are too many immigrants in this country........like Nigel Farage's wife. She is a German national called Kirsten Mehr. He keeps that quiet. And we know what Basil Fawlty and the Major thought of Germans. (Not my opinion I should add!!)

    Oi. Headmaster you're a ----

Thank you for all your replies. It is an analogy. If this actually did happen at a school, everyone would agree that it is totally unacceptable and the person doing this should be dealt with robustly. Most people hope he would be kicked out or arrested. However, some people believe that this...

It was not what he said, we all believed he had made a really bad decision that was to our disadvantage!

    Oi. Headmaster you're a ----

I went to a presentation at my daughter's school last week and there was quite a large number of people there. It was the usual mix of parents with kids of various ages (some as young as 4 or 5), Mums, Dads, Grandparents etc. There was a large mix of ages, a lot of women and most of the people...

As God is my witness, this is a true story!!

OMG! A person of non-specific gender, race, creed colour (sorry ethnicity) who was unspecified height wearing clothing similar to other peoples (also of non-specific gender) was stopped by a person of non-specific gender whilst possibly leaving a designated sporting event. The first unspecified...

As God is my witness, this is a true story!!

At Brighton home games Stewards have specific instructions. Once inside the ground if anyone leaves they cannot come back in. However, after the game you can come and go as you please but you cannot leave the ground with alcohol. A lot of people try to leave the ground to have a cigarette and...

    O/T Anyone been to Malta?

Malta My Dad lived there for a number of years. He said the food was rubbish, the housing was awful, he was kept up most nights by the noise and when he returned he was severely malnourished. Mind you it was during WW2.

Buy your Nan a watch for Christmas

I live in Worthing. The 700 bus allows free travel for OAP's after 9.30 a.m. I hope they never change that to 9 a.m. And people getting on the bus and then getting money out as if surprised that they have to pay??!!

Buy your Nan a watch for Christmas

Old people can't tell the time. I often get the 700 to work and after 9.30 the buses are free for OAP's. If I get the bus that moves along the coast at about 9.15 it is always stopped by elderly people who try to get on before 9.30 arguing that it is past the witching hour. This morning a bloke...
