Good listen if you want to understand how a lot Americans get groomed....
Imagine the bloodbath if he had worked 8 hours days during his presidency. A saving grace really.Do you have a copy of Michael Wolfe’s Fire and Fury? There’s a great description in there of how when Trump moved into the WH in 2016, he had locks installed on his bedroom door, 3 TVs installed in the room and after 6pm would retire for the evening and spend time watching TV and eating cheeseburgers. Conversely, according to a report quoted by a BBC article in 2018, ”Mr Obama had "night owl" habits and was known sometimes to stay up until 01:00am or 02:00am working after his family was asleep …Other presidents, like both Lyndon B Johnson and Bill Clinton, were known to make calls in the middle of the night.”
There are also accounts in Fire and Fury of how he refused to let WH staff clean up his room or pick piles of clothes up off the floor.
“According to the (Axios) report” the BBC article continued; “the president has designated "Executive Time" from 8:00am to 11:00am in the Oval Office, but actually spends these hours in his residence watching television, making phone calls and tweeting”. Trump built “unscheduled "Executive Time" during the work day“ into his diary which was “spent in the dining room next to the Oval Office where the president watches cable news…In one example Axios presented, the president's schedule began at 11:00 with "Policy Time", then "Executive Time" at 12:00, an hour for lunch, followed by more "Executive Time" from 13:30”
Trump also promised in August 2016; "I'm going to be working for you. I'm not going to have time to go play golf." He had wracked up at that point 298 visits to golf clubs at a cost to the taxpayer of $144,000,000. He played 19 rounds of golf in work hours just in his first 100 days in Office cf Obama once, Biden once.
The Report concluded that: “The main difference …,is that Mr Trump's reported schedule could be detrimental to his ability to govern effectively.”
Mrs Margaret Thatcher was known to have 4 hours asleep a night - getting up at 5am to start work then spending the evening cooking/looking after her family.
As World leaders go, Trump is a veritable burger-eating couch potato, spends a lot if time playing golf, watching reports about himself on cable news and a slob by all accounts

I suspect my opinion is probably a majority one here so I don’t think it’s a case of one person being right or wrong on NSC - the discussion is broader than that - the evidence is all there how Trump spent his evenings, how much he played golf and spent watching cables news while working - it was widely reported by WH staff at the time how Trump spent his Presidential time.OK well one of you must be wrong.
I think my point was that if he is a workaholic, he's working on seizing an advantage, any advantage for himself. He's not working hard on behalf of the American public. So I was agreeing with you.I suspect my opinion is probably a majority one here so I don’t think it’s a case of one person being right or wrong on NSC - the discussion is broader than that - the evidence is all there how Trump spent his evenings, how much he played golf and spent watching cables news while working - it was widely reported by WH staff at the time how Trump spent his Presidential time.
Perhaps you are also forgetting he ran the Country on Twitter
I don’t have any evidence other than what I’ve read and what he has achieved. I guess it all depends on what source you deem more reliable, the “rabid right” or the “looney left”.OK well one of you must be wrong.
@lasvegan what evidence do you have the Trump is a workaholic (in the context of running the country, not running his business and personal PR, which is clearly a preoccupation)?
I prefer the dull middle. Not read anything about his putting in the extra mile there. Although maybe you think the BBC, for example, is loony left. I certainly hop not!I don’t have any evidence other than what I’ve read and what he has achieved. I guess it all depends on what source you deem more reliable, the “rabid right” or the “looney left”.
Trump is far too an interesting character for dullards! I only read the BBC sports pages…I prefer the dull middle. Not read anything about his putting in the extra mile there. Although maybe you think the BBC, for example, is loony left. I certainly hop not!
Yep those 6 corporate bankruptcies don't happen on their own.I don’t have any evidence other than what I’ve read and what he has achieved. I guess it all depends on what source you deem more reliable, the “rabid right” or the “looney left”.
Out of interest then - where do you get your balanced news from?Trump is far too an interesting character for dullards! I only read the BBC sports pages…
I suppose I’ll have to start reading BBC news…Out of interest then - where do you get your balanced news from?
Wow, I never knew there was such a thing! I’m already hooked…I suppose I’ll have to start reading BBC news…
Between yours and Zeberdi's sources, there isn't much competiton really as you haven't provided any. Not really to do with rabid right or looney left more, some have been provided and some haven't.I don’t have any evidence other than what I’ve read and what he has achieved. I guess it all depends on what source you deem more reliable, the “rabid right” or the “looney left”.
Didn’t one of them happening while he was running a casino?Yep those 6 corporate bankruptcies don't happen on their own.
Didn’t one of them happening while he was running a casino?
Imagine how successful a businessman you have to be to go bankrupt running a casino.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders responded to the Axios report with a statement defending the president's work ethic:Between yours and Zeberdi's sources, there isn't much competiton really as you haven't provided any. Not really to do with rabid right or looney left more, some have been provided and some haven't.
So what we have to choose between are substantiated and unsubstantiated claims.
Google "Trump lazy"Relentless and a workaholic. You can hate him, but you can’t call him lazy.
This would be the Sarah Saunders who swore publicly, absolute loyalty to Trump yet stood down as his PS, lied to the Mueller Report investigators to protect her boss’s decision to fire Comey, reduced media scrutiny by the WH Press Corps down to periodic appearances by DT at the podium on the White House lawns deciding what to answer or not. The same Sarah Saunders who claimed ‘God wanted Trump to be President’, made false claims about how many people Trump’s border wall had stopped and manipulated the firing of a respected journalist from the Press Corps for asking difficult questions.White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders responded to the Axios report with a statement defending the president's work ethic:
"The time in the morning is a mix of residence time and Oval Office time, but he always has calls with staff, Hill members, cabinet members and foreign leaders during this time. The President is one of the hardest workers I've ever seen and puts in long hours and long days nearly every day of the week all year long. It has been noted by reporters many times that they wish he would slow down because they sometimes have trouble keeping up with him."
Here you go, quoted from the BBC article so it may even be true. Sarah Sanders is a far more reliable source than left wing Axios, the source BBC used for its hit piece.
P.S. Some of my best bits of business have been negotiated on the golf course…
I don’t have any evidence other than what I’ve read and what he has achieved.
And another opinionOr Democrats will feel poorer and less free because they now realize Biden’s border policy is a national disaster, and will therefore vote for Trump. A really good opinion pice by Victor Davis Hanson.
